Re: Car jacking foiled by H.I. Khukuri!

BA,
Great story! BTW it was your evaluations of HI that were my introduction to Khukuris and to the forums. I am thankful that I live and work in a very safe community ( the township I live in is always in the top ten safest suburubs) Still, there is a pice of mine that comes from being prepared. Uncle Bill was right on the money when he wrote that it was your attitude which allowed you to prevail. The warrior mindset is THE most important aspect of survival, not equipment (although toys are always fun

The 20" sirupati that I keep in my pickup has been getting a lot more attention as of late, though I'll admit that my overall rig is not as good as Rusty's.

I pretty much just throw it on the floor on the passenger's side whenever I get in the vehicle, whereas Rusty's overall setup is quite a bit nicer.

Carjacking scenerio in Malaysia:
  • While you drive your expensive car at late night ... traffic light turn red and you stop your car ... bump! ... a car at your rear slightly kiss your car from behind ... a group of well dress gents coming out of the car inspecting the impact done ... the driver politely approach you telling how sorry he is ... thud! ... suddently something hard hit your head and you loss consciousness ... when you gain consciousness you already loss all your belonging ie. wallet, expensive car, etc!
BA --- Is the above scenerio happening in US? Are you going to unsheathed your Sirupati in front of that well dress gents? ... anyhow, I don't have too worry much because I just drive an old junk!

mohd, hard to say. Baddies can get creative also we've got this term "road rage", where a driver in an accident builds his anger up to a boiling point and wants to settle the situation by hurting other folks.

Hello Mohd!
I have seen scumbags doing this to other people. I have never encountered it my self. If I was in that situation, I would be pissed! Also, my trusty O.C. (pepper spray) canister, my REKAT Sifu, and my handy dandy HK USP would back me up. Last but not least my 18"or 20" Khukuri sitting in my car. Time to go into condition orange and deal with the situation.

Since Dave is the only one who's seen my set up, it is a 20" Sirupati by "KGR" and held verically about 3" below and 3" from the edge behind the driver's seat. I attached it with the plastic cable ties that would probably work well as field expedient flexcuffs.

I keep my khukuri in a backpack and run a seatbelt through the straps. It will stay put in an accident and I will know where to look for it. Unfortunately, this does not help quick access. Having walked away from 8 or more car accidents (I don't count anymore), I can attest to objects chasing the occupants around during a car crash.

My weapon of choice for defence is the Cold Steel shovel. Funny, I have used the khukuri for digging. After reading Yvsa's post I have declined putting a lanyard on my shovel.
