Re: CTD Deployment Bag, New Belt Kit

great review... i have one of those bags... i really like it.... definately worth the $$$....

If i may ask some a few Qs. Why would a hip bag be better then a backpack??? I had an old hip bag before and it seemed to bounce alot on long hikes which got very tiring.

Because I will have a quiver of arrows across my back, more times than not, a backpack just isn't an option for me while hunting or roving. I've been using a shoulder bag, but they can be awkward at times, depending on the shot, so I decided to get one of these deployment bags, which are roomy enough for the basics, as well as a few extra items that I don't normally carry, but would use under certain circumstances.

That would be uncomfortable for me as well. I've worn fanny packs when hiking, but didn't have the bouncing problem. Maybe it was the design of the pack itself, or your gait or speed, how it was loaded, or a combination of reasons.

I know i walk fast according to my GPS around 3mph. So that might add to it. But i can see why you would want it with arrows on your back. I live not too far from this place.

Im going to hit that place again and check out the pack with a nice heavy belt. My main problem is water and enough of it.

Careful with that Light MY Fire Spork, mine broke from just using it in the house and I have read many other posts on hiking forums of them broken.

I only use Lexan forks and spoons now.

Yeah, I've read about them breaking easily, but usually just carry a pair of chopsticks and a small spoon for the oatmeal.

Careful with anything plastic that comes from China. Seems they are finding lead in more than painted toys.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure and watch it more carefully. I hadn't read that before.

It may be just me, but I've always liked having things looked streamlined. I don't like the way it looks with everything hanging off of it. Please understand I'm not criticizing you by any means, this was helpful for me to see that I do think I'd need a little bit bigger of a bag to carry similar items.

If you ever lost all your close in a survival situation but kept the back, you'd definitely have your arse covered. :D
