re-enlisting

RAT makes some great knifes (RC-6/5). Landi has a run of knives in A2 coming out, but he normally uses 1095 (MPM/MPX). Busse has some nice bigger ones (NFFFMSSO :D).

Go super expensive side and get a Strider of sorts. Also check out Spyderco's Forester/Day Hiker/names I can't remember line by Jerry Hossom.

Sebenza - plain small or large is an awesome knife in style and function. It would be a great gift.

I carried a randall #1 last deployment - got it by faxxing a copy of my id and order to them after talking to them on the phone. I'm not sure if I'm taking it this deployment or not.

I've never had problems with customs when coming back from deployment. Expensive stuff I just mailed back with insurance a few weeks before going home.

Tons of Randall's on eBay... get it in a week. If going Randall I suggest the #14. It's made for combat. It's a big knife. I gave one to a friend that did two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan (Special Forces). If not a Randall my next favorite is the Busse Hell Razor.
Both would serve him well. The Hell Razor would cost about half of what the Randall will but the Randall comes with a sheath, the Busse doesn't. Randall has the tradition and may hold its value better. The Busse's can really take the abuse but you would have to find a sheath. Search Hell Razor on this site and you will find some for sale. Good luck on your search! God speed to him!

looks like its gonna be a RC-4. i was surprised by size restrictions. seems like 3-4" blade is the limit. weight too is an issue. i'll see him in a few weeks, and he then can decide if he wants the RAT. but hell fire who would'nt want a RAT RC-4!!!!! :D

Scrap Yard just came out with a new blade, the S5. Great looking blade that will be TOUGH! $100
