Thanks to everyone who gave their input on the Grizzly. And I have to apologize for my late reply. I don't own a computer and I don't live in town, so, I have to wait until I can go to the senior center or library. I'm building a new shop so I can make knives again. I'm 71 years old and have the urge again. Actually I never lost the urge, just the wherewithal. Once you have been bitten by the knifemaking bug there is no cure.
Now I need some more info. I need a new belt grinder and the Grizzly is not what I want. I have heard of Coote and KMG. Anyone know anything about these sanders? I can't find them on the internet.Gotta go, this is getting too long. Thanks, Keith (Wanderer)

Coote rules!!!

I chose the Coote over the Grizzly for several reasons, but the big one was having the motor seperate from the grinder. This allowed me to order a three phase motor with a variable frequency drive. Or I could have gone with a single phase motor with step pulleys and then upgrade later.

I have worked on the KMG with a VFD set up and loved it, I just can't afford it (yet!)

Both are good machines, solidly built and designed for knifemakers and hard use. Can't go wrong with having both :)

KMG is the way to go. More money, but you'll not regret spending it. A truly great grinder.
