Re heat treating high alloy?

Before any recommendations, it's always best to question why the hardness wasn't at expected levels the first time. Looking at the process temps and times will help guide you better. There are a lot of reasons why the material was 59 RC and not 61-62 RC. I have recommended re-heat treatment and re-anneal on high alloy materials but it all came down to what that material saw originally.

To answer that question, StormW would have to call Benchmade and ask them how they HTd the knife. I doubt seriously they are giving that info out. Best thing to do, IMHO, is just start over with a clean slate by annealing, then re heat treat.
