Born in 2001, Kelly (Kellipalik) Ashoona is an emerging artist based in Kinngait (Cape Dorset, NU) and son of established artist Ning Ashoona. Kelly participated in the creation of Pitseolak Ashoona's public artwork with her mother and uncle Kuzy Curley.

SOLD The rugged little bear by First NATION Carver - WILLY SKYE
William (Willy) Skye, Gagweniyoh (Hanging Moon), was born on July 15, 1975. Willy belongs to the Snipe Clan of the Seneca, and lives in Ohsweken, a Six Nations Territory just south of Brantford in southern Ontario. He started sculpting at the age of 16.

Selling these because they no longer fit in my little INUIT SCULPTURE COLLECTION.
I am collecting only INUIT and Small bears and musk ox. I can't have them all so these will go to make room for a new bear or 2.

This bear was one of the first I purchased before I decided to specialize in only INUIT work. I really love this rugged woods bear - grizzly or brown -left to your imagination but you can see it is an intense little creature.

Can't do much with the LOONS as the S&H & fees will be kind of brutal on this one
but the price still reflects a solid good deal.

The INUIT sculpture LOONS, in particular, is a very collectible example and in this case a great deal. INUIT ART has become a major international art sector. The more so for the changing mother nature of our frozen north. I think it is very fair to call this a solid investment piece. This will always sell for the asking price in that market and will likely be worth 2 or 3 times that over the short term and longer. Very great example, of the genre - beautifully and realistically rendered.

The BEAR not so much an "investment", as the market for First Nations art is a bit smaller (right now). This carving though is readily recognizable as a Willy Skye Bear. He does other creatures too and his passion for the nature that surrounds him comes through his work. This piece too will hold its value and likely appreciate with each passing year.
