Hi there guys. I was just curious if there is going to be a re-release? I heard elsewhere that there would be, but just seeing if this is true.
Talking about the Street beats big brother.

Ahh awesome! Is there anybody that I can contact that would have inside information on the release?

Uh, no. Things happen that cause delays, everything from tsunamis to QC rejecting a whole batch, and people get all bent out of shape when Spyderco is three seconds late on a release. When they have a full production run on the shelf and ready to ship, then they will give a release date.

I'm interested in this re-release too. The knife is lightweight and I like the handle and blade shape. The sheath was the only shortcoming, IMO and apparently they upgraded it.

There are about 6 older model Spyders that I either sold, traded or got stolen that I want back in a horrible way>> and the Perrin Street Bowie with the black blade is one of them. I do dearly welcome a Sprint run of that great old Spyder-Classic. I've also wondered just what kind of beasty blade it would be with a full Spyderedge.

Yeah I'll admit it I do indeed like many of the older models better than I do many of the newer ones. With many of the older/original Spyders they seemed to be in a stage where they really defined themselves as a company. Many of the long time flagship models were launched during that early era and they are one's I'll always hold close to my heart.

Bring it on!! The sooner the better.

I just wish they'd do like they did with the Laguiole, and sell the knife and sheath separately. To me, plastic sheaths are a total waste of money. Even the best of them look like something that should be holding a kid's toy knife.

Wish they did a sprint run with micarta handles instead of the standard FRN.
A Spyderco Street Bowie with micarta would ROCK.

There was a military request to bring the model back. We're currently working on the new sheath.

Great news!

I've been wanting one or two of those for a long time.

I use my Street Beat almost every day and will be buying these immeadiately upon release.

Can't wait!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply Sal!
So if it's a military request will it be available to the public?

Just thought I'd let you know that this was the first Spyderco I held and it's what got me hooked on knives!

Can't wait for this one! I've been looking for one for a while, but I've been unable to find one at a decent price on the secondary market. I'd prefer a satin blade, but it's for the military, so I understand the need for the coating, I can always strip it, after all! Thanks Sal, I love this design!

I stand corrected, the prototype form Amsterdam does have a satin blade! Hopefully the production model will as well! Now I'm even more excited, & I didn't think that was possible!

Actually I was more curious as to why the military would want the Street Bowie. Military generally want "grunt proof" stuff, whereas I always saw the Street Bowie as refined cutting and combative tool.

I regret selling mine too... I had a numbered satin edition and a black one. Hopefully this comes back soon!

Maybe it's the French military that request them :D

What's the feel of the bowie like? Is this a light, fast slicey blade or more of a tough work horse? Something in between?
