Pretty light and nimble, considering the relatively thick blade stock and 5" blade. Intended for urban SD, hence the "Street Bowie" moniker. Would also work fine for field dressing a deer or similar size game.
IMO the Street Bowie is more of a combatives blade than a field blade. Its fast in the hand and has excellent retention in the basic "hammer" grip. I think a 4" or 4.5" blade would be better but then you get closer to the Street Beat.
Actually I was more curious as to why the military would want the Street Bowie. Military generally want "grunt proof" stuff, whereas I always saw the Street Bowie as refined cutting and combative tool.
I regret selling mine too... I had a numbered satin edition and a black one. Hopefully this comes back soon!
For that reason I'm sure. A refined Combat tool. Multiple knives is usually a good idea, and one is usually just for that purpose, this being light and all with the design is great for that. But of course this is often a matter of personal prefrence.
