I made this knife last week in a class after penciling the design.
It's nothing revolutionary, but it's my take on a larger utility knife
influenced by other knives I've owned
More than a neck knife and less than a chopper.
I like thinner blades that slice so it's 1/8" at the middle with a tapered tang and approx 20% taper to the point.
flat grind

Forged Hitachi white steel core 2mm thick
4.25" Suminagashi blade with desert ironwood and red liners, brass guard and pins with black micarta spacer behind the guard

would appreciate your thoughts/comments/criticism
thanks for looking and pls go easy on me :-)

these are iphone pics and not the sharpest

What's not to love about this knife? Nice to see a beautiful utility knife and 1/8" is plenty IMO. I think you nailed it. My favorite aspect is the waves in the blade and the waves in the wood grain really integrate the knife as a whole. I really like the "HANDMADE" stamp! I like the font and I have never seen anyone do that before.
After nitpicking it in my head, the only thing that might be something to consider is making the brass guard the same thickness as the black spacer. It looks a touch chunky compared to the refined look of the knife. I might also reduce how far the finger guard comes down. I could be totally wrong on this, the way the light hits the knife in a photo can skew things and in person i might change this thought. Plus, I don't always know what i'm talking about! Anyway, It's a great knife and certainly a beautiful utility.

Pocket edge. Thanks for the kind words. Truth be told the black micarta spacer was required because the ironwood came out short due to my over sanding. By then the brass was already done more or less and the micarta was available as the spacer. But good observation and def an improvement would be to size them both accordingly. This was also my first brass guard. So I'm not sure on the finger guard sizing.

I love the simplicity in the design.. Craftsmanship looks very good especially given the time constraints you were under and working in a foreign environment.

thanks Jerid, I was actually very nervous working in front of Murray :-)
