Ready to give up on the white sharpmaker stones

I just got my sharpmaker it works great after about an hour of playing around with it just couldn't figure it out talk to my dad and he said watch the video that sal made watched the vid and Sal explained so well and plainly that i could under stand tryed agin and bang my temp takes hair above the arm on both arms. I have use the hell out of my temp and like Sal said the sharpmaker delivered a almost as good as factory sharp i'll never be as good as sypderco at sharpening but the sharpmarker realy helps.Realy watch your pressure and angle at the end very light touch like your shaving your eyeball you sould be very pleased with the out come thanks for the advise Sal and dad.best of luck to you stick with it if you never fail you'll never succeed.

I have the same problem with the white stones.I can get my knives much sharper useing just the brown stones.

Interesting comments. I use both stones on all my EDC blades and have had no problems. I DO clean them in an ultrasonic cleaner with a soap solution so they may be cleaner than most.
SAL, any problems with an ultrasonic cleaning of the stones?

BTW, Severtechs are hand sharpened before leaving the facility and i know Aaron finishes them off on a Sharpmaker with the white stones.

OK to clean just about any way that works. Ultrasonic, autoclave, acid dip, brillo, Scotchbrite, etc.

May have found my problem.
After reading the thread last night I cleaned all my stones very good with scotch brite and comet.
I then sharpened my Sebenza that was in real need of a sharpening.I had it shaveing with the brown stones,I then hit it with the white,it got a good bit sharper.I belive the trouble is with not cleaning the stones good or often enough.Seems the brown will go much longer between cleaning than the white.
