Ready to try sharpening, need help with options

Yeah, not 'daily', more like 'frequent'. How frequent depends on your level of usage. ;)

In the kitchen, for quick-n-easy, a stick system like the Sharpmaker or Lansky 4-rod is second only to a sharpening steel. Once sharp, it only takes a few passes to keep them that way.

My DMT Aligner only gets used when an edge is dull or damaged or needs to reprofiled.
I have exactly these two in my kitchen for quick touch ups if my hone isn’t doing it. A touch up is less than a dozen passes each side us strop and all of 45 Seconds plus 20 seconds to strop on leather and for me that gets my kitchen knife good for a month.

Thanks for all the input. After watching some videos and reading and reading and reading, I ended up going with a BladeMaster system with Diamond hones to start me off. Seemed like a good place to start @ $45 and the results (after some trial/error) is superb. I may play with other options over time, but happy thus far. Thanks again!

Here's one with a Norton econo stone and also shows how I collect the slurry off the stone. The IB8 which is an India stone makes far less stone residue to work with, so if you go India stone that part of the tutorial won't work the same.
