Guys,
We are having a February 16-18th winter camping trip up here in Chateaugay, NY. This trip is open to anyone who enjoys the winter and wants to test some winter skills. We have 7 guys going so far and have lots of room for more. Anyone interested, I will post more details.

Marty,

I'm gonna be up near Ithaca (Willet, NY) this coming Thursday through the next Tuesday. maybe I can extend my time and then get up there on your weekend. Will let you know.

Also, for everyone else, when I'm in the Ithaca area, I'll be largely off the internet, as the place I stay to practice my skills is a homestead, just like in the 1800s, with no electricity or anything close. However, I will probably get into town once or twice during that time and can check in from the local library.

Best,
Brian

Brian,
Even if you can't make this trip you're always welcome here. I've got 537 acres of wilderness to practice skills. Also we have two rendezvous each year. They are a great time to meet folks with similar interests. We have seminars and games and food, lots and lots of food. During our fall rendezvous we give away all kinds of great prizes including usually 10 Bark River knives kindly donated by Bark River.

Brian,

I hope to see you at the WLC in a couple weeks. You really would like the place we are going. Last year, we ate like kings and had a great time woodsbumming. This year, I hope more will show and brave the cold. I know of a few others who are 100% in and I hope others commit to it too.

Marty and Kevin,

Really enjoyed talking with you guys. I feel like we're all kindred spirits, and looking forward to working with you guys to rev up many East Coast and Northeast get-togethers!

Kevin, congrats on all your accomplishments since we met all those years ago!

I'm sticking this thread. Forumites, unite! LOL. I highly recommend you try to get up to Marty's for the fellowship and skills-sharing. I am going to do my best to take the time off to get there, hopefully my schedule will permit.

~Brian.

Brian,

Good talking with you too. Too bad our phone connection was so bad. I'm happy to hear you are on the mend and things are getting better for you.

Thanks for the compliment! It has been some time since I met you at EMS (probably only a month or two before I registered here) and long before I became proficient at some of the skills I now teach with Marty. It was long ago I thought the only knife for me was a Buckmaster or CRK Project II (wow, have things changed!) and it amazes me how much a person can change. It's been a great run so far and I can't wait to swap some stories with you Brian around the fire.

I'll second Brian's charge to all you forumites. Come out and try out your skills with us. We are here to help you and want to show you more. There is so much to learn and so many people willing to lend a hand. Just think about how this forum would benefit from more folks who are truly able to comment on a skill because they can relate real experience with it.

Hope you guys can make it and hope to meet more of you soon.

Northeast woodsbums unite!

Kev

Guys,
Aggie and I are bringing Hamburger steaks w/Onions and peppers for all plus baked potatoes. Marcello is bringing a batch of his Chili and Jerry is doing Dutch Oven Corn Bread and Kevin is bringing Kielbasa and Sauerkraut. Sounds like we won't be starving.
Anyone else want to join in, lets hear from you. Right now the count is 11.

Last Up-date, (5 days to go) Well the count right now is 13. Eleven adults & 2 kids (Not everyone would call some of us adults). Anyway the temps are expected to be a high of 20 degrees during the day with night lows in the 0 to slightly below. We are expecting about 6" of snow tomorrow. Aggie and I have scouted out a pretty decent area with lots of dead wood and a ridge to our backs to help break any wind. Can't wait to see you all.

With Lee and Matt dropping out that brought us to 10, however Bob just signed on with his 2 daughters. We are back to 13. I think we will need snowshoes as they are predicting up to 10" tonight and tomorrow. I would like to leave from my house at 10AM on Saturday the 16th. I have extra sleds if anyone needs them.
Here is a list of who's going.
Marty & Aggie
Big John (Arkangel)
Jerry (Hayseed)
Kevin (Estela)
