Real/not real strider

Hi guys,

I'm curious if this strider is real. Not exactly into striders deeply so I'd like to ask for my friend from another forum who is not into knives at all. He received this as a trade years ago. Previous owner said it is custom from strider owner made years ago.
This knife is not at my possesion I just need info for him so knife is not for sale.
He said it has some paper box but as far I know strider knives are not supplied with boxes, but not sure if customs too.

Can't be 100% from those pictures but it definitely has some details usually found on fakes. Mainly the backspacer not being the same piece as the presentation scale.

They place to ask would be on the USN forums. There are some real strider authorities there.

My guess is, it's fake. Unless it's one of the very first MSC knives. There doesn't appear to be any logos on the blade either....

Fake. That exact same model and many minor variants of it have been available through all the usual clone sellers for at least a couple years. The blade is D2, the backspacer is G10, and it likely has a bearing pivot. These are made by "Black Dragon" IIRC.

If he traded anything worth more than $60 for that knife, he was ripped off in a big big way.
