I've never even seen a benchBenc knife in person and this doesn't look real to me.
Right off the bat I noticed how thick the lines of the logo are.

Out of curiosity, if you have never seen a "benchBenc" (Benchmade?) knife in person, what are you basing your conclusion on? The focus on the pics is less than razor sharp, making the logo's lines look fuzzy.

You have anything other than comparing the logo in one photo of a knife against other photos you have seen in the past?

The body set it off to me as a fake mostly as I think I have seen that handle shape/design on some cheap Chinese folders. I don't know the conversion rate but anything over ~$8 USD is too much in my book for the price paid when picking up a flea market knife considering you can get equal or better quality for that price.

His user name is an inappropriate insult for this section of the forum.
If so , it's a matter for the moderators / webmaster . Not my business !

Could be dirty only in your mind ? It's a legit last name of real people and the name of a design school .

For it not being your business you sure are defending it.

I'm just trying to help people understand why this new poster may not be taken seriously. We've seen it before many times.

And then add in he thinks he got a good deal on purchasing a very easy to see counterfeit? It's a bit dubious at worst. On the bright side, he's come to the right place to learn why counterfeits and clones hurt honest companies, this hobby, and this community! And could end up directly hurting the op. Again, watch those fingers OP!

Seems like a weak and weird way to promote counterfeits . Sure did NOT appeal to me in any way ! I try to give new poster benefit of doubt . True colors eventually become obvious .

I don't take him as promoting anything after looking up the name, because I didn't know it meant something, I see what people are saying if he is trying to troll the name is a fitting troll name. I will say for now it is worth the benefit of the doubt and searching the name came up with enough to show it isn't purely used as such. If the mods/staff do deem the name inappropriate it is an easy remedy to correct and no cause yet in my opinion to mark the OP.

You're probably thinking of the frost Cutler Delta ranger and other various generic ones, if I'm not mistaken those are all based off a S&W knife.

@danbot Oso sweet 1830 and Thistle (low-end types, under 30€ but im simple :D)
Do you like assisted openers? Most of my Kershaws are A/O.
If you can, I'd say save up and try a Leek or a Shallot. Or a real Benchmade!
The Bugout is nice, and not too pricey.

Nice nickname kokot ;)

Thanks babe :)

Only if you are thinking of slang terms. The name is also the name of a bird and a city in Poland. Why jump to conclusions?

No need to jump to any conclusions. He confirmed it pretty clearly.

But anyway, what is more troubling is if the op thinks getting an $8 counterfeit is a good deal. No counterfeit will be seen as a good deal around here, no matter the price. Hopefully the op sticks around and can learn the reasons why.

I know it's probably difficult, but could you folks keep whine and cheese there and not troll Gkd? This thread was fine without the policing from folks who aren't mods. If yall wanna make unsubstantiated claims about returning banned members and jab at folks you have an agenda against do it in w&c.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

K kokot Have you ever handled anything from Reate or WE? I would think they are more available in Europe than Benchmade?

Oh, some of us Europeans are very fond of Benchmade. We pay hugely inflated prices for them, along with Spyderco and other US brands, but it’s worth it in the end.
I would agree. Just sounds like the OP doesn't have a lot of money to spend, so maybe a good Chinese brand would fit his budget and get something of higher quality into his hands.
