...they dont have to have visible tusks to be male...it depends on age,genetics, and food sources. ive got a 275# boar head mounted and his tusks( cutters) are only 2.75". he just got big before his teeth didbut just like a deer rubs his antlers on a tree, so does hogs. they will actually cut into the tree with their tusk( marking territory).
I recall reading about a gent who hunted a wild boar...He said just before he saw/heard it...he could smell it... :barf:
