REAL RD7 for trade. This is NOT an Ontario knife. It is also not a knife from Justin Gingrich that looks like the ones he made right before he sold the design to Ontario. I have seen a lot of posts for "original" Justin Gingrich Ranger knives that are NOT in fact "original" ranger knives. If you have a Ranger knife (not ontario) look at the hole in the pommel. If it is round, it is an "Original Ranger knife made by Justin Gingrich". The pommel will look like a bird head with a single round hole. If you have one of the "next batch", the hole will look like a slot. I have one with the original design. It has the bird head pommel with the single round hole, black coating, ranger knives logo, and cordura sheath with hard clear plastic insert.

This knife has been lightly used, but the coating is chipped and worn. The coating flakes off VERY easily. However, the steel holds up very well. The edge has 1 very small ding in it. It is VERY small. It will come out in the next sharpening. This knife is a user, but the only thing damaged on it is the blade coating. The factory edge is still there.


What I am looking for in trade is anything that is legal for me to carry here in Texas. 5.5" or less. I am looking for something maybe as rare as this blade. Maybe a Newt Livesay Air Assault or Company Knife, maybe an Allen Blade MEUK. Used is fine. Let me know... platedude@gmail.com


also open to BIG folders that are 5.5" or under. Just want something of equal or + value. Will add $ for the right trade.

I thought it would be good to mention that only 240 of each of these blades were made. This is ONE of 240 in the world. I think once those blanks were sold, that was it. No mas. So you will have one of 240 knives made of this size. Great collector's item.
 
Yo AD, I've got an "original" Justin too--the 9.5" blade with a satin finish vice coated (one of my favorite big blades). Believe Justin was making knives before and after he scored these blanks from Jerry though, and those ones have more of that traditional design that he eventually sold to Ontario. What REALLY makes these rare are they are 1)5160 steel instead of the 1095 Justin normally uses and 2) these are Busse blanks--ground by Jerry or his apprentices. And you are correct on two other points: 1) There are a VERY limited number and 2) The are FREAKIN; AWESOME knives! Justin-made knives are pretty indestructible and his heat treat is spot on (not something you can say about the Ontario ones). Any pics? I might be interested in trying to work something out!

BTTT. If I don't get a good offer today it's going back into my woods/camping rotation.

Why is this rare quality blade sitting here when I am asking for fair trades?! Anyway, I'm keeping it if it doesn't get traded today. Maybe I'll offer it up again in a few years at triple the value even though I will have beat it to sh!t by then...

Looking for BK2 (any manufacturer), plus pretty much anything. Would really like to see some offers for 5.5" fixed blades of about the same value.

original RD7 - not ontario - one of the first batch made - round hole, not slotted - very rare knife.

really want to trade for a BK2 +. Let me know whatcha got!

I can't legally carry this knife in my area (that's the only reason I want to trade it) - I can legally carry the BK2. After this post, the Ranger goes back into storage or rotation as a "hunting knife" (that's the only way I can legally explain carrying it)
