I would like to let everyone know about an especially good knife dealer. His name is Michael Donato. His site is www.knifepurveyor.com. I have worked with Michael for two plus years now and I can honestly say every single transaction or even interaction has been a real pleasure. I collected aimlessly for about 15 years. Then I encountered Michael Donato. I inquired about a knife for sale on his site and he contacted me to ask me what my goals were in collecting. He really helped me refine the way I buy knives. He is always willing to give me advice about pricing on knives (given my goals) even if they aren't on his site. He has told me to buy knives on other sites that I enjoyed for a while and was able to sell and make a small profit. I don't really care about making profits on knife sales. I'm kind of a "Catch and Release" type of collector and I was sick and tired of losing money every time I sold a knife I had purchased. Michael carefully and patiently went over my goals with me and helped me to understand some of the idiosyncrasies of the knife market. I collect mainly art folders. My collection is in so much better shape than before. Michael is forthright, patient and above all scrupulously honest. He is a pleasure to work with and I hope some of you have the opportunity to interact with Michael some day. Absolutely!! I have found probably 25 or 30 knives on Michael's site (KnifePurveyor dot com). He also sells my knives when I get tired of them and need the money to buy something new. He has been a fantastic resource for me. Always gives be the best advice in purchasing and selling. He has made it possible for me to enjoy this hobby for as long as I have. He also is directly responsible for making it possible for me to move into higher end art knives, the area I enjoy the most.
