Really Really bummed with Spyderco's Customer Service

Sorry for your experience. I'm not sure where you got yours from, but I ordered my CPM D2 Military from New Graham. I asked them to check the lock up and make sure there was no blade play. They took the knife they pulled off the shelf out of the box, and sure enough perfect lock up with a centered blade. I would recommend always asking an online vendor to check for such things when ordering to avoid having issues like this. I'm sure if you went into a store and saw that off centered blade you wouldn't buy it that way, so in the online world you have to rely on the people on the phone to be your eyes for you. Even the best knife companies will have some bad apples slip out sometimes, so I try to minimize my chances of getting one by doing as I said.

I put in the letter that the blade was not centered when closed, sorry for saying the blade was bent, it is actually perfectly straight.

I read through STR's thread, and decieded to give it a go. I disassemble the knife, and bent both liners and both G-10 scales in the opposite dirrection of misalignment. I then reassembled the knife: too far (I was almost jumping up and down happy when I saw that I could change the alignment). I tried again, and the blade now centers almost perfectly!

Once again, I am very impressed with Spyderco products. I was very put off by sending in two knives with legitimate problems, and getting them both back in the original blemished condition. I do plan on EDCing this Millie for a while. Thank you for the suggestions, and for not throwing me out because I spoke out against the immortal Spyderco.

Problem Solved, I'm happy with my knife, a little offput by the CS, but I will heal :).

Thanks for replying Sal. I am happy now that my blade centers correctly. I emailed them asking why it came back without repair.

Why is this a "happy ending" if he did the repair himself when this should have been corrected by the factory?

Well, the customer IS happy. He learned something and the next time he faces something like this, he'll probably fix it without flinching.

What are YOU unhappy about? :(

if it were me, i'd be disappointed. sending a knife back from overseas is costly so if no repairs were done, it'd be money down the drain.

however, I'm glad you got the problem resolved on your own. (can't help to feel tho' that one shouldn't have to bend the liners / scales for NIB knives).

I just gotta thank Michaelmcgo & STR for this thread. I bought a Para that had the same issue, and from reading Michael's post, I fixed it.
