Really sad with my 16

It cannot be delamination since that blade is not laminated nor is it damascus. There are no layers in the steel to seperate which is what delamination is.

It is odd that you can only see it on one side. Does it go all the way to the edge? Can you see it in the edge bevel too?

You should really just talk to Kabar. We can only be of so much help on this one.

You gonna strip this one too? :D

I keep coming back to this thread looking at the pics and to my eyes, it really looks like it is just a deep scratch along the grind lines. I see what looks like "skips" on the high points of the rough grind lines. Maybe take a look at it through a magnifying lens. The other thing I am seeing is the line is not smooth in it's path. Many of the blade cracks I have seen in the past seem to follow a smoother arc. Without seeing it in person I could be wrong of course but it might just be cosmetic.

This is what I thought when I first looked at the picture.

Did anyone at Kabar confirm it's a crack when you sent it in for replacement?

just received the knife, but not any written answer or explanation yet, they're really specific on their products guarantee, so I'm assuming it was something wrong with my knife.

Don't be surprised if you get no explanation. Chances are it was replaced as customer satisfaction. Otherwise you probably wouldn't have gotten a replacement so quickly as your original is or will be looked at closely for whatever its issue is.

Once again Ka-Bar takes care of its peeps!

I know you gotta be curious about what's under the coating if your new one lol.

Yeah, very grateful with the ka-bar's guys, excellent service.
BTW I guess that's the fate of all my knives, eventually I'll take care of that coating lol, love the looks of a natural patina.
