Ok, so we all see, and some of us have initiated, some cool giveaways. Nice items, junk, whatever.

Really want to start a great "Pay it Forward" thread with me? Here's my challenge:

Whatever you have that you are willing to pay forward by giving it to another, MUST be an item you actually care about. An item of quality on your opinion. No, 'well this is just collecting dust because I hate the piece of junk...' stuff. Something WORTHY of gifting. Knives, jewelry, gear, watches, whatever you got that you have a happy past with, and want to share. Stories with the item, always a bonus. Let us know WHY your choice is important to you.

Of course, the way it works is simple: I'll start it. I'll offer an item, FREE, to someone who wants it, the only caveat being they must continue it by doing the same. It'll be a meaningful item of mine. You gotta do the same.

If you stop the giving by never paying one forward, karma will be your only punishment, but don't let it be that way.

Well, can I get at least 10 I'm ins? If It do, I'll start it, and we'll see how many of y'all will keep it going.

Peace and love to my FB brethren and sisters! You all are a great community. Let's do this to make folks happy.

I am in!

I really care about my green backs but last week I bought a homeless guy some subway. He seemed pretty happy.

I like doing things like this. There's a community dinner in town here twice a week that needs funding, especially with winter coming. $400 a month. The wife and I are going to make it happen!

As far as giving away things that I care about. I wouldn't give family heirlooms away to strangers, but I'd give away useful things that I don't actually NEED. I just retired my construction business to home school my kids so I'm planning on giving my Jumping Jack away to either my brother, who has a use for it, or to a guy I know who owns a rental company. Giving is just plain good!

Yeah! I'm in.

So how's it going to work? We put up something as a giveaway with the assumption that the person receiving it will then give something else away? Or are we giving something to another person who is 'in' and then they 'pass on' something? Like a clothing exchange?
God Bless

I'm in as well, I actually have something I've thought about having a GAW for but I'm down for this method even more.
What's the plan?

Can I just point out the irony that the member who has an avatar that states "I hate you people" is starting a "Pay it Forward" campaign. :D

Good idea and I am in....

I'm in let's do the thing. OP since its your idea and your thread you just let us know the rules and guidelines and I'm all in. Good way to give back

I really like this pricipal, and who doesnt need more opportunities to do good.... I am in, balls out!

I'm in, and I already know what I will give.
I have developed a jig for cutting bevels that really helps someone starting out and has trouble getting straight even bevels.
The kit consists of three pieces, 1, a magnetic base that you stick the blade on. 2, a 18" aluminum work rest that the magnetic base wont stick to. and 3, an aluminum platen so the magnets wont pull the blade off course . As an added bonus each piece transfers heat from the blade.

Here are my Rules for winning this $159.00 kit.

1 You must be new to knife making.

2 You must already have a 2 X 72" knife grinder that has a tool arm like or similar to a KMG grinder.

3 Be able to drill and tap the mounting holes for the work rest and platen, as no two are the same. And getting a square fit is very important.

4 Use it and post feed back. Good or bad I just want to see if you like it or not.

5 be willing to wait a week or two. I broke a gear in my milling machine and parts are ordered

6 First one who wants it and can answer yes to rules 1 through 5 and sends me an email saying so along with a photo of your grinder and contact information gets it.

It's not literal. It's an homage to my favorite person on FaceBook: GRUMPY CAT! I'll find a new one.... wait, no I won't!

As far as rules, I say we leave it open to anyone, but with the caveat that they have to pony up something. If they don't, I guess bad karma will have to be the punishment. A give away this style has to rely on good faith as the guide. Kind of the idea: you give something to someone, now it's up to them to pay it forward. If they don't, I guess we see what comes next.

If anyone has further suggestions, please feel free to suggest.

Cool Jim, VERY cool!! I'm already in and it heads out tomorrow as the post office was closed by the time I got it wrapped.

Edited to add;

Hope I'm not stepping on your toes Jim. But Jim has already started this by offering me a knife after reading a thread I started about liking the big folders. I had mentioned that I had sold most of my knives to pay hospital bills due to a spinal cord stroke I had back in July of 2012, and that a couple had also gone "missing" during this time. I was really overwhelmed and in return offered Jim a knife that I had bought that I just couldn't get accustomed to. Now I have a feeling that Jim has not only started this by the gift to me, but that he is also going to do the same for someone else. Jim, YOU are da' MAN!!:)

This is just a fantastic place we have here, and I count my blessings being able to be a part of it!!

Ok guys put up or shut up!!! LOL

I started it out.

Hold your horses! lol

The OP said he would start it out. We may also face another issue with gifts that are so specific and require the receiver to have certain things. If someone does, great! But what do we do if no one bites? Some Q's to consider...

- Do we allow people to join for a given period of time, then close it off and start the process?

- Is it a first 'I'll take it' kind of thing or is there some kind of order as to who gets dibs?

- If a person offers something and no one is interested, are they done or are they required to offer something else?
