Well it's better to have a knife than not to have one. I don't think that most people leave home expecting to be in a knife fight. And criminals don't usually broadcast their intentions from afar...

SD talk is for SD forum in my opinion. Lets stay on track with this thread. (Although im not exactly sure what that track is...lol) It’s an enjoyable thread. Just remember the audience. :)
Glad you got some use from your new knives PheonixKingZ PheonixKingZ

If you are snapping off blades at the Spydie hole, you are using your knives wrong.

I would encourage adding a pocket widgy pry bar to your EDC.

PheonixKingZ PheonixKingZ ,

How are things going with your new knives?

Even more importantly, have we been of any help and what else can we do?
Very well! Used the SAK you open a bottle of Ale81 yesterday.

I do have a question on the SAK... should it be that hard to open? The blade is hardish to open, and so are the other tools. Is there something I could loosen/tighten? Or does it need to be oiled?

Ale 8one is delicious. I used to drink a lot of that on my trips to climb in Red River Gorge. Best ginger soda on the market!

I already drank it... Could I do it with an empty bottle?

Did you guys see my question regarding the SAK?:

Empty bottle is good with me! Means you enjoyed it!!
Regarding the SAK...they are a little stiff to open...which is a good thing, means they are a little stiff to close too. :) A bit of added safety, although it can still close on your hand.

They do break in some with use but, the can opener and bottle opener will always be a little harder than the blade.

And they should be oiled.
Victorinox makes a small bottle of oil for their knives. It is just a few dollars. I think I paid about $3.50 for mine. It is food grade oil so no worries about using the knife for food prep.

Remember that I said your knife is basically a Soldier model in civilian dress?
When you compare it to the other models with plastic scales, you will see that the blade and tools are a little thicker on yours. This will make yours slightly harder to open because of the thicker back springs. They do get easier with use. Lots of use.

So, what is this Ale 81 stuff?

Thanks for the information! Will look into that oil.

Ael81 is a really good ginger soda, really popular in Kentucky, where I live. They come in all sorts of flavors: Original, cherry, orange, etc.

I like the Original and Cherry the best. :D (They are also bottled in glass bottles, which adds to the awesome flavor)

I had never heard of Ale81 until I moved to KY. It’s supposed to be pronounced “A Late One”, but people usually just say “Ale 8”.
