RealSteel Knives; experiences, thoughts, opinions?

I bought a sea eagle of theirs and I must say its a nice knife for undef $50 shipped from KC. Perfect centering, really nice flipping action (I believe its on bearings) and all of the edges are nice and rounded in which it beats out knives 5 times its price. Only sharp edges were the cutting edge a d the top of the lockbar cutout (2 minutes with a file and its smooth now). I really like its desing and how it feels in hand. It came decently sharp, nothing lime microtech or spyderco but usable and after 30 seconds on a double stuff its hair widdling sharp. I mainly bought it for the steel, im really liking lower carbide steels now and was looking for a knife in 14c28n and this was the one I like most. Supposed to be 58-60 hrc (just like kershaw, still a lil to soft, id prefer 61-62 range but I doubt we'll see that in a production knife unless microtech or fantoni use 14c28n) so it should have decent edge retention and nice ease of sharpening. It does take a very nice edge, like I said 30 seconds on a double stuff without really trying gave a very keen edge. Its ground rather thin for a production knife, about 0.020 or so. I prefer my knives (folders) to be under 0.010 but only a few knives come that lean so 0.020 is decent. Ill probably regrind it eventually, we'll see.

Overall I think that this is a heck of a knife for under $50. Its very comfortable in hand especially due to how everything is rounded of and has a nice stonewash, flips great, locks up solid, has a good almost ffg grind and thin bevel for cutting (it cuts pretty good, tears through cardboard) and has a really nice steel for the price. Its also pretty light for how big it is, its very skeletonized on the inside so it weiths under 5 oz easily. Id highly recommend this knife.

Maybe you can provide a little info that I literally cannot find. Is the clip reversible to lefty carry? I can't find anything saying yes or no, I just know the clip can be taken off.

Real Steel offers outstanding value for money, use quality materials and have great fit and finish. All come in a nifty presentation box, foam pad, instruction/warranty card and wrapped in a microfiber cleaning cloth. Their high end knives (the 'S' series) are easily comparable to any other higher end factory knife, and I am thoroughly impressed with the knife you get even when you get the more modestly priced ones.

My Thor just on opening

The Sandvik 14c28n has been compared to s30v and from experience it is a quality knife steel.

I have a Thor and Sea Eagle I bought just about a year.

They are great, regarding the fit and finish, handle ergonomics too.

I just got a Megalodon with black G10 handle scales, which came very sharp and great fit and finish too.

I see that they are doing a high-end framelock version of it with Bohler M390 blade steel soon.

I have heard great things about the sea eagle and am very tempted to pick one up to see for myself!!

Have a H6 se2 and a H6S1 CF, very good knife for the price, surprisingly good edge retention.

Just got the Sea Eagle. Very impressed! I have several knives at four to six times its price that don't open and close as smoothly or feel as well made. It came sharp but this steel can be Very sharp from what I have read about it. I'll worry about that later. Just enjoy carrying something this well made that didn't cost a lot. I'm going to give a few of these to friends and family and may put a few up for the grand kids. These are really great for the money. That is just my opinion of course!

they have very spotty quality control.

with that said, i have a real steel megalodon 2017 edition and i got one thats got good QC/fit and finish. i like it. its got roller bearings which is unique. there are some design elements i would change but overall a nice knife.

m390 with a very nice blade profile, its rather large but doesn't bother me. roller bearings, and milled out TC4 titanium. retail price is worth it but they had a sale where they were like 110$ and when that sale ended some were found for 150$ but now those are all defunct and its hard to find them anymore at those lower prices.

in anycase, i wouldnt purchase any other real steel knives just because i prefer good QC and design.
nick has a few reviews on them

The Megaladon 2017 is phenomenal for the money! I had the Griffin 2017 and the fit and finish on the CF inlays wasn't good. If you can find a Megaladon 2017 grab one as they are tough to find.

I have been impressed with Real Steel from the beginning. I've had 6 but sold three because I was not carrying them. I will say that for the money the have the smoothest action of many other knives. I had the Takin, E571,H6 Blue sheep H6-s6 (safe queen) H6 S1 and H6 plus. I have enjoyed playing with and carrying them often. I think that in their price range they are in the top 5 for quality and value. And no I don't work for them and I am not a paid actor.
