reason for switch from hollow to flat grind?

I like the looks better too, but if the flat grind gives better performance then I don't mind.
Actually, now that I think about it, I'm sure that I once read that a hollow ground blade would cut better because it was thinner over a greater area, but that the flat grind was a little stronger.
But who knows, I could be wrong...sometimes I read too much.
 
I have had a similar nagging question, and have been contemplating selling my numbered hollow ground AR and getting a new flat ground AR.
I, however, am not sure if I would appreciate the difference in cutting performance that the flat ground offers.
