reasons against waved endura

I forget - has there been any talk of at some point, making an Endura with a Pakal-style removeable wave? I remember Sal talking about applying the pakal wave to other models.

Here are some pics of the upcoming waved knives. The last pic is the P'kal. It is to be held in an ice pick grip. It will come with a removable wave G10 scales and S30V blade.

Pretty sweet huh?

Wow I may finally have to purchase some more spyderco's since they discontinued the lil temp. My favorite folder.

I pre ordered one today for $46, from a site that said they will be getting them on teh 13th, so I will get it shortly thereafter. Not too bad of a wait actually.

I admit it IS fugly no doubt, but if it actually works, I think I can live with it.

THanks.

I don't mind the waved version but if you want an argument against it, the only ones that I can come up with are:

looks real ugly.

Does'nt work with tip-down carry.

Looks real ugly.

If you're stabbing something, the wave will hit the material preventing to-the-hilt-penetration.

And it looks real ugly.

Why won' t it work with tip down carry?

Edited: Pardon me. I was thinking of normal non wave carry! Obviously, the wave won' t work in this carry mode!

That seems to be a popular word this week. Opinions do differ ... I like the way it looks. I REALLY like the way it works.

Wugly

seriously though

what is a good price to pay on a normal plain edge endura?

From what I've seen, they are all around fifty (doesn't seem to matter whether waved or not, or serrated or not etc).

Definition: Fugly
ADJECTIVE: Functionally ugly.

That is exactly what these knives are. They are designed to be no nonsense knives with every detail of it having a use. In a description of on one of the models stated something like these knives looked as they were designed in the dark.

So that is what these knives are...fugly. There is nothing more fugly on the market.

Hi Jlh2600,

The Clipits with Emerson "waves" are essentially the same as the regular D4 & E4 versions with the exception of the wave. Strength is not an issue. They are a little more expensive (royalties to Emerson knives).

They should be shipping soon. I believe they are scheduled for next month.

I will admit that appearance was not a big consideration in the development of the models. I think he word "fugly" was invented to describe Spyderco knives.;)

Sal, thanks for paying Emerson their royalties. Nothing makes me happier than buying a product from a company that I can respect. Your business ethics are something you should be very proud of.
