Reasons to get a plain jane over an inlay other than price...

I think the plain is ugly. The ugly grey turd handls and dull stonewashed bladed kept me from getting a sebenza for years. I think the inlays are better, but not by much.

The computer graphics flip my switch and they don't add "thickness." I think the "letting it get character" is BS, it's still ugly, just now used. Plus the dull blade of the regulars are boring, the shiny ones are much more desirable to me. I've had mine for over a year and the computer graphic and anodizing on the scales has held up. The shiny blade finish has held up great. Per CRK, both blade and scales can also be refinished if desired.

Plain is ok if you scotchbrite it. Prefer the all polished look and the inlays. To each his own.

Also to the guys talking about the added thickness of the inlay being cumbersome... You guys are nuts.

Id love to tell you guys I've made up my mind... but I I cant really do that until I actually make the purchase... :p

Still leaning towards the Cocobolo or Micarta inlay... but we shall see where the coming weeks take me. I have an SMF and a 3" XM18 to pay off before i buy the Sebenza...

Whichever way it goes, I have a beautiful Box Elder Burl Mnandi on order at CRK... 6 months or so... :thumbup:

:cool::thumbup:

I didnt get damascus, I got S35VN. I honestly prefer the look of a satin blade. And the wait time on damascus is more than I want to wait, and more than I want to spend on a Mnandi.

What a ridiculously negative post. Sebenzas are made to be used as tools so those finishes you hate so much are the best finishes for intended use. The "shiny" or polished blade would not have held up well at all if you had actually used the knife, the anodising and finish on the handle would show obvious use too. Don't slate those that want a knife to use or their choice because you happen to like shiny things. I suppose my regular old hammer is dull and ugly too and I should probably get some CG milling and anodising done on it. :rolleyes:

I appreciate hearing a contrary opinion, if not the tact used in expressing it…

Personally, I wouldn't trade my ugly dull grey knife for any with inlays or detailing. And now that it's 'used' I just like it even better. To each their own.

Dear friend, I agree with you, just my experience over years using sebenzas. For me the small insingo sebenza is the best EDC ever made. Actually it is a tool and a jewell at the same time.

Well, I rather enjoyed the post. Just another opinion after all....

It makes we want to go buy another one just so I can nickname it the "Grey Turd". Do you think CRK will inscribe that for me, right under Idaho Made?

Ahhh, the "Idaho Made Grey Turd".... Kind of has a ring to it :D
