Reasons I joined BCCI is the great information on BUCK Knives and history of BUCK, also to support a great company and to do what I can to support BUCK so that we never have to go through what we went through with Schrade Old Timer.
Once a member I found out about Larry and can go back in time with the great user knifes I have gotten from his top secret covert list (could use an update about now) long live the 118.

Also this place has great friends and unbelievable entertainment.

I just wanted to 'test the waters' last summer, so I joined on the yearly plan.

Okay, I lied! I'm cheap - and old - I don't buy green bananas!!

Yeah, another Larry-list is due...

I'm gonna' revive this thread with a couple of comments and questions.....

I just read through the "Buck Collectors Club Inc." sticky and reread this thread and am thinking seriously about joining. Seems like plenty of good reasons have been listed....in no specific order and without crediting the poster:
  • Hot Wimmin' :D
  • 334dave gets a knife
  • 'ssociatin' (great post by the way, gd546)
  • Back issues of newsletters
  • Friendship of Buck Brothers
  • Nylon sheath
  • Entertainment
  • Info on Buck & Buck Knives Inc.
  • Top secret covert lists
  • Coolness
  • Newsletter (well, some members get it)

Good reasons all....and a few more from the Membership application:
Quarterly Collector’s Club Newsletters
  • Hear from Chuck Buck
  • Special project announcements
  • Free classifieds and knife specials
  • Copy of current Buck Knives catalog
  • Eligibility to purchase annual “Member’s Only” knife
  • Copy of Buck Collector’s Club Member’s Directory
  • Help with valuation of collectible Buck knives
  • Annual renewal rate of only $20.00/year
  • Lifetime memberships, $100 one-time fee
  • Membership Card

I know this is getting longish but I got a few questions before making the plunge.
  • Does the BCCI site have forums?
  • What is Buck Inc.'s association with the BCCI?
  • As a wannabe collector, can I find answers to my numerous questions once becoming a member?....For instance...What years did sheaths change, what's with the inverted blade stamps in the 70's, what's this 116 worth, what's up with the different colors and number or spacers.....(I'm not looking for these answers here, just wondering if the BCCI members are willing to share the info).
  • Are you guys as much fun as the Clampers?
  • and lastly, are the Wimmin' really as hot as the ones DarrylIS posted?
Mike

[*]334dave gets a knife
[*]Friendship of Buck Brothers

Just to clarify, Dave is NOT guaranteed a knife ;) If I remember correctly the last person to win the membership drive won by quite a bit?

and 2,

Not everyone will be there to help... You will have the friendship of *most* Buck Brothers, they are a great bunch, but joining the BCCI doesnt automatically make someone your best friend. (trust me I've been there) Just a FYI thats all ;)

Forums? Dont think so.
Joe Houser is involved with the BCCI. Buck Family is at BCCI meetings usually. I think they support it to the top! ;)
As a wanna be collector, yes alot of answers will be available, but there are alot of models that have to be updated yet on the BCCI site, and some model info isnt available as of yet. Theres alot of info that was never recorded and is only "guestimation"
Most BCCI guys will help, but you have to be careful who you ask for info...

Some will tell you lowball offer and then buy it out from under you before you know what happened... some on BF use back door techniques to buy knives cheap from newbies, before they know what they have... (here's a prime example)
everyone here will try to out hunt every other one here for a prime buck!!
Everyone doesn't do that, only a select few will do that to one another.

Clampers? No idea :)

wimmen??? Darryls Lied ;)

You cant really go wrong for $20.00 or even $100.00
I joined the first year as annual member and then joined as lifer before my membership expired. Spend the $100.00 and save the $20.00
Don't forget you get Larry Odens consignment list as well, plus Knives 5% (life member), (10% annual member) (15%? non member) over cost I believe... You CANNOT go wrong with that alone!!!!!!! That to me is worth the cost of the membership!

Well one of the reasons to join BCCI. I just placed my order off of the secret covert clandestine list (SCCL)! Between the times I got the SCCL and e-mailed some of them Buck’s vanished but I got some. Good hunting. :D

THAT list ain't no secret ;) ALL Buck collectors should know about it ;) I will guarantee the money I saved by buying from Larry, paid for my membership 2X already... I also buy the new year models when they are available from him. Its just easier ;)
It is a HUGE resource for finding rare, and collectible knives, priced right with no bidding. I have picked up several awesome knives off there, and yes occassionally someone beats you to one or two, but this time all 4 I wanted were available!! I placed my email last friday, and I see the post lady left me a card on the porch today! (I wasn't home :() Now thats service!

JOIN THE BCCI TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(dont forget my BCCI membership # is 1175 ;)

Great service and more not only can I go back in time and fine old Buck’s but as far as mail ordering I have great appreciation for Larry. It’s like dealing in a small community in the past. Thanks.

Stockdog & Jim,

Thanks for the replies.....I'm sold.....I'm signing up. Maybe annual for now, see how it goes.

I've been fishing the bay, seems an exercise in futility. Found a couple nice ones, got out bid on several others. Got 4 in the mailbox today (pic below), another 4 in transit.

Got a 655 today, black sharpie over the China blade stamp....gotta love the blurry pics and 1/2 ass descriptions......theres got to be a better way. I admit I'm just stumbling around, don't really know what's what. Having fun though. Lots to learn.......Larry Oden, here I come....:)

Thanks again,
Mike

Ok Wallace,

What's in all those packages???? photo's please;).

The BCCI is worth every penny for the dues....I pay for the yearly membership. I know I should pony up and be a lifer. But, I tell myself; "the club needs money every year". however, you all know the truth....I'm a cheap ass :) and I can buy another Buck with the extra $80.

Now that Oden list takes me back to my childhood days....you know when the Xmas catalogs would come and I'd spend hours looking at all the cool stuff I wanted. Well....now I spend hours looking at all of Larry's cool stuff. I was out of town when the "list" arrived so I missed out on one item...But, there is plenty of other goodies on that list and a few are inbound.
