# Executive Order 10998: All food resources, farms and farm equipment will be seized by the government. You will not be allowed to hoard food since this is regulated.

# Executive Order 10999: All modes of transportation will go into government control. Any vehicle can be seized.

# Executive Order 11000: All civilians can be used for work under federal supervision.

It's disturbing to realize how much power the government has....

How about a link that works regarding the primary source itself?
Searching some of the phrases above only leads to sites with questionable journalistic integrity.

The first thing I would do is find out if your sources are reliable.... lotsa folks having their way with twisted info these days...

If you think being quiet about preparations is going to get you past this, you may get disappointed.

Most peoples first thoughts of preparedness fall upon hoarding supplies and building a place to bunker down in. That could be very useful in a short term scenario but in a time where these Executive Orders can be carried out, they do you absolutely jack-squat.

This would be a shame for the guy who has spent the last two decades on stocking his cellar, building a garden, water purification system, off-grid power, bio-diesel vehicles, guns, ammo, a cabin hideaway in the woods, BOB's.... the list goes on...

I hope this doesn't get too political.

Following these dispositions and proclamations is like a Byzantine maze. Many of the ones above have been revoked. The last one mentioned above contains the following info:

* Signed: June 3, 1994
* Federal Register page and date: 59 FR 29525; June 7, 1994
* Amends: EO 10789, November 14, 1958; EO 11790, June 25, 1974
* Amended by: EO 13286, February 28, 2003
* Revoked in part by: EO 13456, January 23, 2008
* Supersedes or Revokes: EO 8248, September 8, 1939 (in part); EO 10222, March 8, 1951; EO 10480, August 14, 1953; EO 10647, November 28, 1955; EO 11179, September 22, 1964; EO 11355, May 26, 1967; EO 11912, April 13, 1976 (in part); EO 12148, July 20, 1979 (in part); EO 12521, June 24, 1985; EO 12649, August 11, 1988; EO 12773, September 26, 1991 (in part)

Here's the actual text of 12919: http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/executive-orders/pdf/12919.pdf

We're going to need a legal scholar with some time on his hands to follow all the supercedings, amendments, and revocations.

The whole thing feels a little tin-foil hat to me, but whatever the case, I agree with Rick. This probably should have been in Political.

I was not thinking political bro, I was thinking of the same guy. The old japanese proverb-the nail that's the highest gets hammered first.

My view was not to draw attention to yourself and make yourself and family a target during a disaster. It's just a bit scary to think you could prepare just to have it taken away...Sorry for the politics, just an observation, Jim

Jim, I think you started this thread in a W&SS direction... I just hope it stays that way.

Those first couple lines were generalized statements, not directed at you, BTW... I follow your way of thinking... keep your head down.

In a national crisis of the magnitude that calls for these types of actions, you can be assured that the government will do them anyway if they see it as needed, regardless of what executive orders are on the books. There are many ways to skin that legal cat during times of national emergency.

My own .02 on keeping quiet about preps is you will likely have more to fear from unprepared neighbors and relatives who know about your stash than you will the government.

Even if now revoked, one has to pause and realize that our leadership actually tried to put these in place...

People call me paranoid, but I've been in planning sessions for the next 'disaster' and all the parties from the gov involved pretty much universally see protecting the public as a marshall law situation. Most of the talks centered on containment and quarrantine type mentality...using armed forces.

Amusing to see that in fact there is a record of such planning that is public. The avg Joe gets rather upset when presented with this information, denying it the whole way. People simply trust the government far too much.

When Clinton signed these, there was a good amount of coverage generated by various magazines and talk shows. They are legit and many of them infuriated us who were active duty military. It was a frequent topic of conversation as we easily figured out whom was most likely to be tasked to enforce them should the need arise. Posse Comitatus (? sp) has constantly been under attack.

Ha! Joke's on you Big Brother, I am never prepared for anything!

I only bothered to check the first one cited: 10998. It was signed in 1962 by John F. Kennedy and revoked in 1969.

Executive Order 10998
Assigning emergency preparedness functions to the Secretary of Agriculture

* Signed: February 16, 1962
* Federal Register page and date: 27 FR 1524, February 20, 1962
* See: EO 10952, July 20, 1961; FR Doc. 62-9459, 27 FR 9418
* Revoked by: EO 11490, October 28, 1969

Generally speaking, governments have written plans and directives in place for every conceivable scenario from a coffee shortage to a full blown alien invasion. The government also has the power to declare martial law and make the rules as it goes. Any stiff can write complex and far reaching executive orders. It's a whole other story to try to impose those in a country with a strict constitution and 200 million firearms in private hands. As long as we safeguard the constitution and posses a healthy quantity of firearms, everything will be fine.

I don't remember the exact % but I remember a poll of US troops that were asked if they would follow orders like these and if they would shoot to kill US citizens and almost all said they would refuse to follow such orders. Some even went as far as stating they would relieve their superiors of their command by any means necessary, aka FRAG, before murdering US citizens. Most said they thought about what would happen to their own families. Freedom is too ingrained in our society's mindset about how far we will let big bro go before crossing the line. I don't worry about these things.
