I have searched for answers and none were found. I found a few old threads about them no longer having a stateside service contact.

I am thinking about purchasing a Reate (I had one that I loved but sold it, now I found another one) but I'm concerned about warranty issues and such. Does anyone know what the current situation is?

Hi Freedom! First, some of the nicest knives I own are from Reate. I feel that if you can afford a Reate, by all means go for it. My only complaint against Reate is that for their price, they have no Stareside warranty and service. That's not a good thing. Here's a link to a thread where their US based service center appeared to step down from the responsibility.

I'll message David Deng and see if he has a good answer to this.

The link didn't work for me, but it sounds like one of the threads I read. So if they don't have a U.S. based service contact, can they still be trusted to service a knife? I mean if I have to wait a month to send a knife in and get it back, it's not going to make me happy, but I would still feel better about the whole thing if I knew that there was at least good custoner service even if it took 5 times as long.

I tried to contact reate twice, just to see if I can get some extra hardware, never got a response. great knives, just hope nothing ever goes wrong with them. The only other thing you can do, which is kind of silly, is buy a double of the same knife as a spare or for parts...

Every time I have contacted Reate I have received a prompt response from Shera. I would, have, and do purchase Reate knives without hesitation.

I have contacted reate on occasion. I usually get a response. The couple times I didn't I never followed up. And I know first hand that emails are tough to manage at times.

I went ahead and purchased the knife. Hopefully I don't have any issues. I'm still a novice when it comes to knives, so please answer this dumb question. Can I sharpen it on my sharpmaker? What's the angle on the torrent?

requested pivot through instagram due to stuck screw... been several months and still haven't received anything. I haven't messaged him back yet.

Well that's not reassuring. Do you think bladehq would help me out if I had an issue? I'm sure that they're probably one of their biggest vendors. It kinda sounds like he's getting lazy at this point. I wish I could find a knife in the same price range with better CS. That harpoon was calling my name though.

I have one Reate-made knife -- it's a Liong Mah. If I ever had any trouble, I would've contacted him. That might be an option if the warranty concerns you. Buy one of the Liong Mahs.

I'm sure Blade HQ would help you. I had an issue with Microtech's CS and Blade HQ stepped up. I shipped true knife to them and they handled everything.
Excellent dealer.

check there policy. i think most stores after 15-30 days sometimes 7 days, often pass you off to the products warranty and support center.
