Reate/WE/Other Chinese Production Showcase

Lol you ain’t wrong! It was over $300. It was a tough buy for me though. I’m a knife steel junkie and the Starboy was the only RWL-34 knife that I could find at the time...

Great purchase though. Reate and We do make top quality products. Nothing bad to say about them at all. I just dislike communism.
That is a very fair opinion. 👍

Or maybe not. These knives are made by ordinary people who happen to be born and live in China and have to work hard to feed their families. Most if not all of them have nothing to do with communism nor give a rats ass about communism.
Yeah, but there are normal people living everywhere. I‘d rather give my money to normal people who live in a country whose government isn’t keeping North Korean women as sex slaves…

There are good people everywhere, and crappy people too. It’s impossible to tell which kind makes the knives we buy. Given, China’s government is (in my opinion) terrible. But, if we insist on boycotting every product they make, we shall soon find ourselves severely set back in this modern world, without things like phones, computers, cars, or other items. (Who here is using a computer to access this site? Chances are at least some of the parts come from China.) Instead, I choose to boycott the ideas and theologies that makes a country into China. Many people love the ideas that turn a place into China. Many people want things for where I live that would make us into a communist or socialist state. Instead, I choose to freely represent and stand up for my beliefs. Really, it’s not even political. There are just things that are and aren’t okay. I believe that the Bible sets these rules. Others may believe differently.

I believe that not buying a few products won’t stop people from exhibiting their inherently sinful natures. What I do with my own life might.

If y'all think this paltry inflation is bad, go ahead and cut off imports from China. Then you can look forward to 50-200% inflation for US-made equivalents ... in 5-10 years when they might become available. This is economics, not politics, btw.

I’ve had my eye on a We Primoris for a while. Maybe I’ll buy one, maybe I won’t lol. I don’t like spending money on Chinese products…
That’s a beauty!

I'm looking for a Lefty WE Chimera for ever...
Also when you post pictures it be nice if you identified them as I'm trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks

The new Subjugator looks great, anybody have one ?
No, but I will soon. I saw it this morning and loved the marbled cf version, so I snatched one. Says it will be here tomorrow, but we'll see. Also interested in the civivi conspirator, but I don't think it's coming out soon, no real info aside from a picture...

WE Beacon. The action is fascinating.

The action on mine was very good right out of the box. I swapped in some Skiff Bearings (5mm, 1/16", 11-ball) and got it dialed in just right. Now it is incredible.

Between the action, how it carries, and how it feels in hand; I've really been blown away by this knife. I wasn't sure if I'd like it and almost didn't buy it. Now I'm really glad that I did.

My only complaint was that the top edge and corners of the lock bar were a little sharp. I fixed that with progressive grits of diamond file. Now I've got a little shiny spot across the top edge of the lock bar. I usually don't worry about that but here it will be just the excuse I needed for more mods. At the very least, my grey model might get anodized to bronze.

The past year or two has been characterized by utter satisfaction with just about every knife purchase at every price point, though I've been sticking to my favorites and shopping well when I do buy so that helps the hit rate for sure. Outside of a Ruike framelock, the 671-TZ, I've been very happy with even the knives that had minor points of mediocrity.

It took a couple of attempts to finish breaking in my Matanzas, but now the action reminds me of my first hidden flipper Kizer, the Velox2 and it stopped developing that weird smidgen of play two weeks after getting its loctite.

The 671-TZ has beautiful scales, but a huge stainless backspacer and a very thick blade with a pretty soft detent and a grind that isn't too bad but certainly not on the level of the Kizer Assassin I picked up last year. So it'll be sold off sooner or later, cool knife but it needs to be sent out for a custom backspacer and a hollow grind to shine, and I don't think the action really merits that. It may be the second knife I adjust lockbar tension on, but I'm not sure I want to commit to it so heavily.

I just ordered the Skiff Bearings 😁. Thanks for the advice.

The only knives made by a Chinese company (as opposed to knives made in China for American companies) that still I own are the:

1) Artisan Cutlery - Waistline (G10 D2)

OQ

2) Artisan Cutlery - Shark (G10 D2)

MTAyNHg3OTQuanBn

3) Real Steel - Megalodon Titan 2017 (Ti M390)

cGc

They all come w/4" blades and the Megalodon is one of my favorite knives for "every day carry."

I don't own any Chinese folders except a Spyderco Tenacious and Persistence, which I don't really care for much. I rarely carry or use them. I'm not fond of the ergos and the blade steel isn't very impressive. I've been thinking about starting at the beginning with something from Civivi. The Praxis caught my eye the other day.
