Rebel Yell bourbon

i needed some booze for the house tonight and thought that whiskey sounded best in this weather. Rebel Yell immediately occurred to me, as i recalled Jerry recommending it some time back. called a couple of places and found it at Binny's Beverage Depot -and only $16.99/750ml
scooped up a bottle and it even came with a free Rebel Yell shot glass -boom! this stuff is tasty. surprisingly clean and smooth for such a fair priced bourbon. slight, pleasant sweetness. anyway, guess i'll get into this bottle a bit more now that i've posted. thanks for the recommendation, Bossman :D

Since Jerry suggested rebel yell I have sampled 3 bottles..good stuff.12.95.a.bottle in Minnesota..my favorite is Elijah Craig but a almost 3 times the cost..

Rebel yell doesn't have the character or depth..but is great for the money..

hey yeah I even like the look of the Rebel Yell bottle!-I'm gonna try it .At the moment I've got a bottle of Jamaican Appleton 8yo rum on the shelf(nearly finished)-& its is mothers milk compared to Aussie rum-although quite expensive-Australia is a great Rum country -I urge you to try Bundaberg Red if you can.We love bourbon too -I was drooling over some Jim Beam Rye Whiskey -can anyone give me an appraisal of that?I always ask the question when it comes to price V quality-"would I mix it with cola?" yes at the lower end no at the upper.
cheers- good post

Bicentennial Man?

Make that Trycentrnnial Man! If it's got "proof" he'll try it :D

Now it's time for me to finish off this dram of The Glenlivet 12 and head to bed. :)

Oink, Oink, Snort, Snort and all that. :D

Man!! The stories I could tell you about "Proof" of some of the home made Vodka I had while in Russia!! OMG... I about died three or four differant times... well, one was real close!

That one time was the only time I can say that I drank so much, and so STRONG "proof", that at the end of the wedding reception party, I (I was tols this anyway... no way i remember it) was waiting for the taxi outside, with about 6-8 other couples... when I decided that the sign post was a giant Oak..... Yep..... out it came and I stood loud and proud and pi$$ed on the giant tree (2" sign post).... Wow... the American must have been the talk of the town that week! ha ha I do remember one thing about that night. We got back to the flat and I cleary recall walking in, mostly with no help. I stood in the hallway and I can still see it clear as a bell. I stood like a tall mighty Redwood, that had just been notched.... and I fell straight back and BOOM.... there I was.

Ok, enough of these sick tales of over doing it!

Carry on. :barf:

I need to pick another bottle up. RY has a fan club they will snd a flask, a bandana, and a certificate if you go to their web site.

hah, done! nice tip, sumo! soon i will be drinking Rebel Yell out of my new flask and winning gentlemanly style points in my new bandana :D:thumbup:
(don't know if my lady will go for the certificate getting frame space in the computer room, though)
round two of Rebel Yell tonight. went great with rock and roll and knife-ogling last night

My "Go To" inexpensive whiskey is Old Overholt (a Rye) -- it can be relatively hard to find, but is well worth trying. I think the last time I bought a case, I paid about $12.70/liter -- that's right, not the 750ml bottles, but for full liters. It's cheap, and if you don't trust me that it's good, take a look at some online reviews.

I also laid in 1 case + 4 bottles of 10yo Van Winkle at the same time (about a year ago) and I still have a pretty good supply of both. However, I keep calling about the Fall Van Winkle delivery -- I'd like some 15yo, which isn't too expensive if you can find it, but they don't ship much and it sells out quickly (usually, the same day Liquor Barn receives it) -- I've never found 15yo RVW in-stock.

Rebel Yell is a very nice bourbon at a great price. Another good everday bourbon is Four Roses.
