Reccomend a fixed blade hunting knife

Bob Dozier

A Dozier is out of the stated price range, but I'd have to agree.
I kept wanting a "better" hunting knife, and spent lots of money on several slightly cheaper knives over a few years, until I got my Dozier. Now it's the only one I carry when hunting.

Otherwise I'll add a vote for a Fällkniven F1 or H1. If you watch the Fällkniven subforum over at that other knife forum, there should be a limited edition H1 in special laminated SGPS powder steel coming out in late August. It's probably only available through the manufacturer's website, and should be worth every cent.

I second the Benchmade 190 in D2 and Wood scales. This knife came sharpened to a much finer angle than most benchmades, and I find the slicing qualities of D2 to be perfect for cleaning animals (in that you always slice and never really have to push cut). The knife is beautiful, as is the sheath.

Bark River.

But if you can raise your spending limit a little bit, then Bob Dozier.

It's worth it.

Game used for would be whitetail deer, turkey, mabey the occational grouse or rabbit. I would think something with a 3-4 inch blade would suffice. Price range would be say... $125 give or take. I would tend to want something traditional as far as handle material wood, stag ect.

So what do ya guys got?

Grohmann D.H. Russell Original Design in rosewood, and a Grohmann Mini Skinner. I love the Original Design; the handle ergonomics are surprisingly, counterintuitively really good, and it's a really nice knife. I wear it every chance I get, not just hunting.

Just got a Boker 502 (Made in Argentina) drop-point with 440 stainless in wood handles. Comes with a leather sheath. Not sure if the leather is vegetable tanned or not but quite a bit of stuff for less than $50 IMHO.

Very sharp, too. Oh, blade is 3.5" and OAL is 7".

Check it out if you have time.
