reccomendations for a 100 dollar knife

Para2 or Chokwe get my vote.
I used to have a Para2 and I want one again.
I do have the Chokwe and it's AMAZING, I love it.
I would never let this one go, it's that good.

You just might consider increasing your budget. What happened to me, when I was in your position, was I ended up buying several 100 dollar knives from a variety of different companies to see what I liked. Then I finally bought my dream knife, which was more like 200 dollars. Now I have a tough time looking at any knife that's under 200. My 2 picks for an EDC blade would be an HTM Gun Hammer, or a ZT 560. Spyderco, my favorite is the Manix 2, which is in your price range. Benchmade, I do love a Ritter Griptilian with custom scales. Or the Rift.

Do some research, and look at a bunch of knives, and buy the one that speaks to you the most. If you don't buy the knife you really want due to price now, know that you're going to buy it eventually anyways, and in the meantime you'll get a bunch of nice knives that you won't ever carry once you buy your dream knife.

Of course, if you don't HAVE a dream knife yet, then buy as many as you can, so you can find out what you like in a knife. Para 2 at least will retain a lot of it's value, because so many people love it.

You were on the right track in your post about your first thoughts. I second them. You may have to go a little more than $100 for a NIB gayle bradley though. I have to say, that is a very fair price for that knife and would be for $100.00 more really. I don't know how they sell it so cheaply. Here is a pic for fun:

+1 on the Para 2.

Far and away the best $100 general purpose EDC folder you can put in your pocket.

I have many folders, and my Para 2's get the most carry time by far.

Once you break it in and have handled it for a week or so, you will know you picked right ... ;)

Words of wisdom that will save you money

he speaks with words of experience... many of us know this first hand

spyderco sage 1 definitely one of the best buys for the $,the new kershaw blur w/purple or green handles from bhq both can be had for <$100

It looks weird, but feels great. This is a knife that doesn't need any of those fancy curves to feel amazing. I carried it as my main EDC for 2 - 3 months.
I then got my ZT 0560 and tried to carry other knives with the 0560.
I have been carrying the 0560 and Chokwe for a while now. It's the perfect EDC set up in my opinion. I have my beast and then I have my slicer. The Chokwe is beautiful, different, ergonomic, and it just works. I don't know how Spyderco takes some of the oddest designs and makes them work but they do and that's why I love them so much. I've been asked many times to give up my Chokwe because people look at it odd and then when it's in their hand, they get it. They want to buy it/trade for it, and I just can't let it go. That says a lot. I trade a lot and this is the knife I just can't let go.

I wish they would start a pass around here for it so other people could try it. This knife is highly underrated.

I'd go for a Paramilitary 2 or an Endura. But make sure you have a sharpening system as well. Having a dull knife is about as useful as a fork in a soup eating contest.

I gotta go for the S30V Kershaw Skyline Bladeforums knife! $90, should be a great knife with FFG S30V blade, and it's a proven design that is a great EDC already, this is just a limited "ultimate" version.

If that doesn't do it for you, then I will echo what others have said and say the Paramilitary 2 or the Sage 1.

I've heard many great things about the Gayle Bradley, but haven't handled one personally. I have a Para2, it's factory edge is great, looks good, and has good steel.

Another vote for the Para 2. You get a fantastic knife for the money. It's pretty much my default answer when someone asks for a $100 knife.

I think the handle of the Manx is awesome, but the blade is a little weird to me. it seems practical, but I just don't connect with it the way you may. I guess it's the modified sherpsfoot that turns me off. cool knife though

I dont like the blade either.....lol

I'm almost set on the para 2, but I'm wondering if it's worth it to shell out some extra money to get the camp handle and black blade. I've never held one of those specifically, so I don't know if the aesthetics are worth it. or should I go camo and no blade coating. any advice

This is very subjective but I am a big fan of satin blades (no coating). Also, I think Camo/Satin is a slick combo. Do you want a black clip or silver? Does that matter? Satin blade/silver clip has the advantage of "appearing" new for longer in my opinion and showing less wear. If that matters to you at all.
