Hi everyone, well I received my blemish DOTD 15in AK by Bhakta. Its a great kukri with excellent balance, it only weights 23oz which I find very comfortable in the hand especially at that blade length. It didn't come with a karda or chakma but that's no big deal to me and I am happy with just the kukri. The sheath was excellent with that nice leather smell that only HI's have. Oh one more thing... I saw the triangle box sitting at my steps when I got home from work. It looked a little bigger than I am use to and weighed more than expected.
When I opened the box I had thought Auntie might of made a mistake because there were two kukris in the box. I unwrapped the newspaper from the first one and it was the AK I had ordered. It was in perfect condition except for a split in the horn near the rings. I had attached some photos and would appreciate any advice anyone could give on the proper way to repair this type of split. Anyway... I unwrapped the second kukri only to find a note from Auntie. She has sent me a KLVUK out of the kindness of her heart. I really couldn't believe how much of a class act she really is. I posted some pictures of the KLVUK and it has a different type of wood handle than I am use to. What type of wood is it? It was very dry and I soaked it in boiled linseed oil. It absorbed a few coats of oil and I will apply a few more tonight. I cant tell how the kami its so maybe you guys can tell me. There is a half moon marking along with the normal marks. Soooo...any info on, How to repair the horn handle on the AK? What type of wood is on my complimentary KLUVK? Any info would me much appreciated!
Enjoy the pics...
