Received my "mystery" Sirupati blem.........

I ordered the knife on Friday and when i get home from work on Monday a new toy is waiting for me. Bill, i dont know ur grading system for blems but this knife doesnt look like one to me. I had to check the forums again to find out what was wrong with it. HARDLY NOTICEABLE! I especially loved the polish on the blade, like it has an inner fire (soul?).
When HOOLIGAN gets his blem from you we allready have the perfect test for your knives... A business friend of ours raises EMU's (kinda like an ostridge) to harvest the meat, feathers, and oil... and she needs a couple of guys who are willing to help with the humane slaughter of these animals.
A perfect test for a couple of Sirupati's... and when i found out the slaughter includes beheadings,i had a full body shiver. HOOLIGAN and i will of course post the results of our "test". thanks again Bill..

Many thanks for report from the field, Don. You are not alone regarding your musings -- is this a blem or have I been sent something by mistake? Many people feel our blems should not be blems -- but....

I'll say it again. The HI khukuris are as near perfect as can be for soemthing hand crafted and this is how we want it to be. If we see something that makes the khukuri less than perfect in our judgment it goes into the blem box -- even a grainline on the handle or an almost invisible fold line on the blade. We are our own worst critics.

Khukuri FAQ

Uh oh ... you know whenever us knife testers see a new knife test posted we have to duplicate it ... where are we going to get emus to decapitate???

How much do emus cost? Can you get them mail order? I'd better run a web search ... you can find anything on the web ... they say....

Way too much, Cougar, my aunt collects stray animals - a mistreated mule, the world's homeliest pig, goats etc.

Even dead cats - "But Senor Ron, I bury him !!!that!!! deep?" ( in a Portuguese accent ) when my uncle took him out to show the shop worker who'd been kind enough to bury what they all thought was their cat laying dead on the road in front of their house - the decorative iron security stuff is made in the shop behind the house. All this hullaballoo and the cat was asleep in a back bedroom, and came strolling out two hours later.

They had emus for a year and a half til they faced up to the fact that what the emus gained in value every month they also cost twice as much to feed that month.

Come to think of it, send some pictures of the emus ( not during the moment of transition please ) and I'll bet the look on the kamis faces would be priceless over the puja of a bird that size.

And then, Uncle Bill, tell the kamis that the khuks owners wanted to send special regards for the fine knives, _but_they_weren't_ marked!_ so they didn't know who to thank? How's that for motivation, Uncle?
