Received my new GEC Weaver Jack--first impressions

Is the EZ Opening needed?

I laid a couple straight edges on either side of the blade to get a feel for how opening would be without the cutouts. I think the cutouts do their job well, they make it significantly easier to open the knife. The blade is thin, and the swedging rounds off the spine so it's thin and there's no hard edge to pinch, and there's no nail nick. You can open the knife without the cutouts, but without a nail nick and with the rounded spine it's not EZ. Remove the cutouts, and add greasy/sweaty fingers or a touch of arthritis to the mix, and I think you'd be unhappy.

I'm realy liking this one the hawkbill blade isn't to extreme looking but looks very usable and practical I think GEC has yet another winner with this one.
