Being my 1st non Victorinox knife I did a lot of research before making this purchase. I looked at the offerings of Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw and Buck.

I didn't really like Spyderco's styling.
I was surprised at the amount of QC issues I read with regards to Benchmade especially at the price.
Buck had ok offerings but nothing that really "spoke" to me.

Then I saw the 1910CKT! Dare I say love at first sight. :o

I loved the look of the DLC coating, initially I was worried it would wear off like black oxide coatings (which is one reason I never considered black blades). I was very surprised to hear how durable it is compared to other coatings so I decided to give it a try.

I did some more reading on Kershaw's quality since that is very important to me. Every thread every article I read on this topic said basically one thing...Kershaw's quality is amazing. However I still kept my expectations a little low so I won't be disappointed.

So I received the package this morning and quickly cut open the amazon box. As I pulled it out of its red box and plastic packaging I was totally blown away. It was amazing. Perfect fit and finish. The black aluminum anodized frames where smooth and perfectly finished. The texturing on the G10 is beautiful and grippy. The blade came razor sharp right out of the box. It opens so smooth and locks up so well, no play whatsoever! The contours feels like they were tailor made for my hands. Its comfortable, light yet has a very solid feel to it. It nice and slim sliding right into my pants pocket.

I would purchase Kershaw again without a second thought!

I really like the hawk lock as opposed to a liner or frame lock. I wonder if Kershaw is planing to design more models with this type of lock.

The only thing I'd do to it is remove the pocket clip since I really don't like them on any knife.

This is going to join my Cybertool 41 and Cadet as my EDC's. I love this thing so much I'm defiantly going to order a second one.

Just thought I'd share :)

This is why I've had one in my pocket for the majority of the time since 2008.

Congrats on the pick-up of a great knife and I hope it serves you well for
years to come.

Glad you like it. I carried mine today actually. It fits so well in the hand and rides well in the pocket and the clip is perfect for me. Mine has the black finish as well and it is really durable. I do want the satin version as well so it will probably be my next purchase. And I agree that I would like to see more HAWK lock stuff from Kershaw as well.

Congrats on your new purchase ! Kershaw does not have those pesky QC issues that pop up 'elsewhere' for sure :) The RAM is one of Kershaw's sleeper knives , in that those who have not had one are missing out on a great knife , easily one of the best production flippers made. I sold mine to my co-worker but will score another one day soon.

I like my RAM too. I carried it all summer at work and put it through quite a bit of use and it held up fine. The 14C is a great user steel and the HAWK lock is a fantastic lock. Butter smooth and durable.

The RAM is the Kershaw I'm most interested in right now. I really like the smooth opening.

Been thinking to get RAM... the original ZT 0500 is quite amazing... So... RAM should be quite similar. Been thinking nearly a year that I should get RAM...

Everyone should own at least one RAM....maybe four. ;) :D

I sold year ago all my Kershaw's due I needed money to have new glasses... Today I got new Skyline which I missed so much. So, I am back to Kershaw's, my first modern knife love. Next: Kershaw RAM. Going to put it next to my ZT 0500 and make some comparision when I get RAM. So far I really like 14C28N... All my previous Kershaw's were 13C26.

Dang the Ram is good looking knife. And Mr Dobson makes some most awesome aftermarket scales to RAM's.

I've emailed Philip Dobson to get cocobolo scales made for my RAM but have not received any replay after about two weeks. Does he normally respond to emails or should I just call him up via the number on his site?

He's done some fine work for me in the past, but lately he's been so hard to get a hold of I figured he was too busy to tackle anything else and just stopped sending emails. I know he was out of the pocket for a long time, but I don't really know what he's up to lately, but I've been out of the loop myself.

Here's some pic of the scales he did for my RAM...

You can get a G & G clip from blademaker (Gavin Hawk). I think you can order from
G & G's website or at least shoot an email.
