I ordered a couple of Orange Urbans from Tom Berry at Spydercovt.com.
One for me and one for my GF, Amy. They are awesome little knives! My first non-traditional slippie. The fit and finish on them is as perfect as you can get in a production knife. Blades are dead centered, action is super smooth and the pull and detents on each are almost identical. I assume everyone who owns one closes theirs by pulling your index finger behind the choil and pushing down on the spine jimping with their thumb. I say that because that was the immediate, natural thing for me to do and it works great. Defeat the first detent with your thumb then close the blade with your thumb in the Spyder Hole. Couldn't be easier or more natural IMHO! My first impression is the knife was super small closed as I opened the boxes. And the picture in my hand closed will depict that I think. The cool thing is the knife does not feel nearly as small when open and gripped. You may be able to see the way my fingers are going to fall into the handle contour in the picture of the opened knife in my hand. I'd say my hands are large. I wear extra large gloves that are often tight anyway. I really like the Wharncliff blade. It's a very useful EDC profile. I also like the fact that the straight blade does not hang over my strop side to side so I can make straight strokes across the length of the cutting edge as I strop it. The edge grind was even enough and the blade was shaving sharp out of the box. Both of them. It's just a beautiful knife. I touched them both up on the SharpMaker and stropped them and they both will whittle hair now. I didn't really think a slip joint would be so appealing to me at first but I can already proclaim that this knife will be in my right hip pocket a lot from this day on. Now for some pictures:
