Hello guys just got my first Hinderer. Main question or concern is the lockup. It's at least 55 percent. I thought I took a picture before I broke down the knife but I can't find it. Upon breaking down and cleaning it (the whole thing felt sticky or tacky, dirt and grime in all crevasses) I see this on the lock face and tang of knife.

I'm concerned because I feel all I read about it Hinderers super early lock up. This lock face is really worn. I'm no pro at all, but to me it looks like this thing was flipped HARD thousands of times. The titanium it flattening out. Now the lock up is solid and there was no blade play, but my concern is is this going to get worse? I didn't just buy a Hinderer to not flip it open to mess up the lock. Other concern is scale screws are borderline stripped, and I'm having a hard time finding them. Also one of the Teflon washers looked like this?

Don't really know what's up with that, also thought they were 2 different sizes? Well I'm praying you guys will come in here and tell me I'm being stupid and it's fine. Just my first Hinderer, thought i bought one with a lot less miles on her. I appreciate any and all help. It's still apart for now and if you want a pic of a different angle or shot let know, I'm home all day.

I presume the knife is used based on your comments so who knows the history exactly but here goes:

The washers can be the same size on the XM-24 (unlike the XM-18 that need a smaller one on the lockside). Your one washer could have been damaged during a prior reassembly. You can easily get new ones and replace them.

The lock doesn't look particularly alarming to me but I find it difficult to evaluate based on pictures. The one point on the lock does appear a little mashed, if so my concern would be battoning with a non-fixed blade but that is just speculation. RHK does carbidize the lockface. I wouldn't be too concerned with a 55% lock-up as long as it locks solid. If it doesn't lock up solid, I'd be concerned but you state it locks up solid. If it was mine, I'd throw some new washers on there, clean it up, reassemble, adjust and use it.

If you don't like that answer, you could send it to RHK for evaluation by coordinating with Rob Orlando.

I love that answer. any idea where you can order Teflon washers, and I assume xm24 are specific for it? Already reassembling with factory black scale.

Monkeyedge is the only one I've found. You might just want to send it into the ranch and let them do a nice clean up and sharpening.

Cakes,
If you want a couple of washers now, pm me your address, and you can send me a couple when you get them from monkey edge.

Some 24s do lock a little deeper than 3" and 3.5". It's obvious that is a used 24 and has several more years of worry-free use to it before it needs a refurbishing.

PM me your address and I'll send you a Teflon washer in a standard envelope w/ a stamp on it.

What does a ranch trip get? What is the price and rough turn around time?

Only Rob can answer this. Last time I checked the sticky it said they aren't doing spa treatments but will let us know when they can. With all the new stuff they've been producing I can see why spa appointments are difficult to schedule.

Thanks. I hope everyone understands where I'm coming from. This is my first Hinderer. I've been looking at Hindy porn for a long time, and lockups are all early. So yeah I was nervous. Being new I didn't know 60% is ok when all you see is 20 to 40%. I know it's not a new knife.

There is nothing that can be done about the lock up. Monkey Edge will have washer and screw kits back up very soon, we just shipped them out. There is no need or reason to send that one to us.

My best advice, if the knife was somehow misrepresented to you from the seller, return it for a refund and purchase a knife that you feel happy with vs settling for something you are not.

My question to you as king here, is this normal wear and tear or was this thing beat on, and mainly with normal use will it stay this way or keep engaging more and more?

Live and learn. Like Rob said, if not accurately represented then pursue a reversal resolution. I agree with Mikes CSI on that one.
IMO, under normal daily use that knife will last a long long time without issue But you are the one that has to be happy with it.

I also took it apart. I've seen how that goes with returns here. I will say this, how do you see damage to the lock face without disassembly? But I'm the new jack here and I'm not trying to get banned, flamed or bashed. I just honestly don't know what to do.
