How often do you all recieve a different thickness of steel from what you ordered? I know there can be a variation of thickness, hence the .22-.26 in the description. Not a big deal for me this time but Im sure it can become annoying when your doing a custom order and the customer wants so and so thickness you didnt recieve it.

I recieved the next size down, non precision. I thought it wasnt as thick as it should be when I got it but didnt measure it until I had already profiled and ground the knife.

I guess it happens. I've never got the wrong size, but I have got the wrong type. The last time I ordered from Aldo I got 1095 instead of 1084. But in his defense, UPS had lost the original order and Aldo immediately shipped another order to replace it. Somehow the wrong type got shipped, but I didn't mind.

I am not sure who you ordered from but I would be sure to let them know I am not pleased with there quality control and if it happens again I will be taking my business elsewhere as well as letting others in this field know what kind of service I have gotten from your establishment!

In this business (and that includes the people who supply us), "you are only as good as your last job" !

Depends on what exactly you ordered....

I'd expect a small amount of variance on a hot rolled bar, say of about .005 to .010 at the most, along with rounding on the edges and warp over 2 to 4 feet.
On cold rolled, I'd expect .005 and under to be acceptable, with perhaps some rounding on the far edges and even a little warp over a 2 to 4 foot piece.
On precision ground, I'd expect it to be within .001 or less, no round edges, and nearly dead nuts flat.

In general, a little more thickness is fine, but less may not work.

Once I got the wrong steel type but the correct size. The company figured out they'd put the steel in the wrong bin at the warehouse and they promptly shipped me the correct steel. They let me keep the wrong one (it was a fairly small piece).

I once got the wrong size from Aldo but I couldn't complain, it was the correct thickness and length, just a little wider.

If you get the wrong products then it's best to contact the company as soon as you realize the problem. Most companies will fix it/make it better real quick.
