Recent 940-1's

I bought a 940-1 shortly after they first shipped to Canada, and ended up with an off centre/ unevenly ground specimen. I held off on sending it in due to the continued reports of similar issues, and figured I would just learn to love it. However, having gotten into CRK since, as well as continuing to carry my 940-1, the fact that the blade almost rubs on the scale bothers me more and more.

Long story short, does anyone have experience with recent 940-1's in terms on centring and uneven grinds? I would love to get mine fixed, but if Benchmade hasn't fixed this problem then there's no point in going through customs hassles to get mine to Oregon from Canada.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! (pics to follow soon)

Cant tell you specifically about the 940-1s, but in my experience, the attention to detail has been better in the past year. My 940 (acquired in December) was a perfect specimen out of the box, and the 707 i just got is also very good in terms of centering and pivot adjustment. Most of the models ive held and looked at as of recent have been pretty good also.

I've recently picked up a 940-1 and the centering is perfect and the blade grind is very well done.

I have handled two 940-1s' in the past year, and both were perfect. Have you tried the centering it using a paper/cardboard wedge to see if that fixes your problem?

My Benchmades have been hit or miss. That being said, a return trip to Benchmade has always corrected the problem. Their customer service is pretty darned good in my experience.

I have only handled a few -1's and have found perfect ones with others that are off centered and had blade play. My regular 940 is awesome and about as perfect as you can get.
