On Saturday I found a blue Dodo PE at an optometrist in the town of Witbank, a little off the beaten track. This is the 2nd one I have acquired, but they are becoming more and more hard to find. Cool.

Last week I bought a Mini Police tie clip. Nice. It's like a decorative piece of jewellery, ATS34 steel which tells me it's a few years old. And it was very sharp!

I guess I've been lucky :)

OK, I was waiting for somebody else to ask this, but nobody did.
Why did a optometrist have a collectible Spyderco for sale?
Was it just laying in a case of eyeglass frames, all causal like with a price tag on it?

Must be a South African tradition :)

Actually, I thought it was pretty odd too. Sad thing is, the previous owner passed away in a car accident, so the new owner never carried on with the "side-line" items in the store. They used to sell Spydercos and binoculars, but now they are just selling off the last of he stock. Over the past 5 years or so I bought a few Spydercos from them, including a Meerkat, Merlin, Ladybug, Hunter (s/s), Delica 3 and the recent Dodo. The Dodo was the last Spyderco they had. Only reason it had been there so long was that it was off the beaten track. The Enduras, Delicas and Natives moved well, but not the less mainstream items like the Dodo and Salsa. Go figure!

wow you really are lucky... wish i could get my hands on a dodo but they are impossible to chase down at a fair price these days
