Anyone have any?

I picked up a 247 on here that had some lock rock and detent rock... I figured from what I had seen in other threads that it shouldn't be that big of an issue and would be covered by warranty.

I sent it in on Nov 18th (got there a couple day later) granted there was a holiday in the middle of there, so I understand some delay... but i didn't hear anything for 3 weeks and finally reached out and then heard back Tuesday - but apparently there is an issue with the detent hole (said it was "countersunk" - but when i had taken it apart it looked like a normal detent hole?) and it's $150 for a new blade since I wasn't the original owner. I haven't heard anything back in the last few days - they were suppose to contact me either tuesday or wed to let me know if a new blade worked and how to pay.

Not intending to bash or anything... just maybe slightly disappointed in their customer service based off of hearing how well others have been treated.

Anyway - super stoked to get it back hopfully before the holidays!! Just was curious to see if their warranty or process has changed at all?

Just wanted to post an update, so I spoke with the owner Ilya today and he was able to explain a few things - first off, I misunderstood, it is under warranty, but there had been some after market mods (bought used) to the detent, stop bar, stop pin hole etc... so the $150 is covering a whole new blade - which is reasonable and is fair IMO (and not related to the fact that I'm not the original owner) as I hadn't realized that someone had messed around with all of those things. So I apologize if I construed that they were not covering the warranty... It was my misunderstanding of the full situation and in fact they are/would... But I am purchasing a whole new blade. They are hooking me up with re bead blasting the handle as well - so for their services I am thankful!

I jumped the gun I think on this and don't want to deter or put a bad light on their services... After our correspondence today, I'm satisfied with their services and feel that they have been fair :)

Anyway - I look forward to a pretty much new knife after all this and recommend people be careful with used purchases!!

Blessings!

I've never needed to send in an Olamic for repair or replacement, but I've owned a couple. My only contact with them was to ask about a potential build, and they responded quickly and gave me all the info I had been looking for. I've also heard really good things from others who have dealt with them for direct orders and servicing of their knives.

Good to know that you're happy with how they're handling things after further communications.

Similar to Lance’s story... I’ve never had to deal with service/repair to my Olamics, but I’ve communicated with Olamic about a possible build. They always responded on a timely (and sometimes almost immediate) basis and were very informative and very helpful.

I had an Olamic and posted a thread about the edge I reworked and some issues I encountered. It was a second hand knife, and certainly nothing what so ever that would need warranty work. It was just an unevenly sharpened factory edge - easily fixed on my W.E.

Olamic contacted me, based on that thread, and sincerely asked me to please return the knife so they could correct it on warranty! Who does that?! I was amazed.

Olamic is absolutely the best knife company I've ever worked with. I have met and spoken with Ilya and Eugene in person multiple times, and their table is always my absolute first stop on Friday when BLADE opens. I consider Eugene a friend, and they do amazing work. They care about their work and their customers' enjoyment of that work and I would not hesitate to recommend an Olamic to anyone. Excellent knives, even better people. I am glad to hear that they are working with you to sort that knife out, I know you're going to love it and it's going to be perfect when it's back in your hands.
