If it had been eBay, it would be easy to explain. I can only speculate that someone (who maybe didn't know any better) decided to use up some leftover packaging during or after the transition. It's wrong imo and if it were me I would return it. The knife might be fine for what it is but you clearly wanted the "Carbon V" version.

I have an SRK, may attempt to post a close-up if I get a chance. It has "SRK" in large letters, and directly underneath "Cold Steel Carbon V" "Made in USA".

Have a Master Hunter and a couple of Twistmasters, all Carbon V. They are good knives, especially considering what I paid for them- take and hold a very nice edge. I do not know of any Carbon V knife made in Japan.

Geez dude, chill out- it is not a grand conspiracy that LT knew you were coming and did it just to piss you off. If you don't like it and feel that you were ripped off, return it and don't buy their products. You have no idea if the store you bought it from screwed up and put the wrong knife in the wrong box because something happened or if the packaging was screwed up on a new knife and they put it into an old box or whatever. That packaging is not what I have from mine (and I have 3 SRK's and a bunch of other Carbon V blades) so who knows what the heck happened. It is common knowledge among the knife industry and people who are knife nuts what happened with Camillus- Cold Steel hasn't made it a secret that the SRK's are now AUS 8- so why would they deliberately lie about it? Its probably just a mix up.

I do not need to chill out because I am not upset and I never said it was a conspiracy. You sound more upset than I am. I asked a queestion and responded to questions asked to me. I even said I liked the knife and plan on keeping it even if it is AUS8. I asked because I know of others who have the same thing so I wondered if it may be a carbon steel from Japan. I will just call Cold Steel and ask them. The reasons I asked on here is becasue I thought someone might know for sure and others may want to know if they order it of the internet it may not be what they think it is when they order it. I will just get up early and call them.
