Recipies from the Army Rangers

I take a jar of peanut butter and loaf of bread with me when I go backpacking.

For the price of Yuppie freeze dried foods, I can eat at the finest steak house in town upon my return from the mountain.

I threw away the only MRE's I had.

The IMP's they give us here in Canada aren't bad. Oh sure, they clog you up nicely, but they are more than edible, and some of them are tasty. "Beans and Weiners" is always popular. "Pork and Scalloped Potatoes", especially when cold, not so much.

Two things...we got small packs of smokes (of some kind) in every c-rat. That's where I learned to smoke...

Also...regarding "field" food...where is Rod Allen to tell us all about "Vegemite"? It's a horrid paste that looks like axel grease and comes in small jars. Biker buddies of mine there swear by it...either on crackers, on toast, or simply scooped out by the fingerfull....
