My search-fu is weak. I'm looking for a knife with the characteristics below. Any help would be appreciated.

4-6" blade by 1/8"-3/16" thick
Higher end steel. Carbon or stainless.
Detachable scales or cord wrap. Prefer to be able to cord wrap it.
NO FINGER/SHARPENING CHOILS.

Ideally the SRKW Ratmandu with no choil or scales would be about what I'm looking for. Thanks.

How about a BK2 with the scales taken off? that sounds like what you want. other than that, talk to a custom maker. Usually all of the knives bigger than about 3" have scales.

That's probably where I'll end up. This is my last ditch effort to find a manufactured blade. The BK2 is out cuz it has 2 things I hate. 1/4" thick stock and a sharpening choil/notch.:barf: Thanks though.:D

Look at the Bark River STS-5.

A little thicker then you want, but with that Bark River Convex Grind it's a great slicer.

Why don't you like the sharpening choil?

They tend to snag on cardboard and cordage. I'm a little surprised at how popular they are to be honest. Small ones like on Gossman's PSK's and the ESEE Izula are fine though.

I agree, the STS-5. Removable scales cuts out almost all of Bark Rivers line up, unless you go custom.

Found this one. Anyone have experience with blue steel? http://www.bladehq.com/item--Kanetsune-Knives-Tsuno--3038

How about something in the Ontario Ranger Bush Series? They are at 3/16 thick and the scales come off with an allen wrench/hex key.
