recomendation for the best quality EDC for under $300?

Benchmade 940-1. Carbon Fiber scales, CPM-S90V, and light as a feather at 2.4 oz. One of the sweetest EDC's I've ever carried.

I am very happy with my Viper Odino Ti. It is a great EDC knife. I would also look into the DP/x HEAT Elmax.

Al Mar sere, payara, or shrike.
ZT 200, 3xxx, 560 or 561
Spyderco VALLOTIN sub hilt
Emerson super cqc 8

Any of the above are solid knives. The payara or shrike are not something one usually sees and would definitely be a conversation starter with fellow knife knuts

Good luck

User Sm Sebenza was definitely the first thing to pop into my mind. Heck, a new one ain't too many beers away from $300 either.
#2 Spyderco Military.
#3 Spyderco Para 2.

I was very impressed by the quality of my Spyderco Native 5 fluted ti. Probably the nicest lockback I've ever experienced to date.

Good luck, OP! :)
