Recommend a flipper, < $200

Southard, or ZT 0801 if you don't mind something a bit heavier and chunkier.

The Domino was easily my least favorite Spyderco design, but it's a love/hate thing. Some folks love it; I hated it.

Another vote for the 0801! Just a great knife overall.

I've tried to like the Domino but something just doesn't feel right about it but I seem cant pin-point it.

OK, had to get some work done on the house, but I'm back. My decision isn't getting any easier, but that's what I expected. There is a great knife store in Lafayette, LA, about an hour away that has a great selection of ZTs. I'm going to have to go feel em out. So, my list has expanded to the 560, 561, 566, 801 and the Domino. Going to drop the 770 since I don't want assisted opening.

Thanks for all the suggestions, info and advice. I'll put it to good use and report back when I make a decision and purchase.

Spyderco Southard or ZT 0801. Southard is slightly more than $200 though.

ZT 0566 is also assisted opening like the ZT 0770 and 0770CF.

0560/0561 are bigger than all those listed and in my opinion the flipping action not as good as Southard or 0801.

There's also the upcoming ZT 0562 and 0562CF but it could be several more months.

Dont buy into all the hype surrounding Ti framelocks. Sure they are lighter, but they add a lot to the cost of a knife, and wear much faster unless they have a steel insert in the lock bar. With my 0566, the stainless locking side has kept wear to an absolute minimum. I have flipped this thing many thousands of times with almost no affect on the lockup. It came to me at around 60 percent and has pretty much stayed there ever since. Great knife

I've flipped my Southard a few thousand times and haven't seen any wear. It still locks up at 40%, same as the day I bought it. Not sure of how fast it will wear considering the lock bar is heat treated. IMO if it's quality titanium, and properly put together there isn't much worry of wear.

Yeah, the well thought out models from the reputable companies has the Ti lock face treated (carbidize/carburized) to prevent wear. Spyderco and ZT does this among others as well. Either that or it has a steel insert. I'm confident either way.

I'd have to cast my vote for the ZT 0801. Buttery smooth, perfect tolerances, top notch materials, great street price. Some think it's not much to look at, but I love the industrial appearance. Only possible downside is that it's pretty chunky for an EDC. I love mine and can't see myself ever parting with it - one of my faves.

Although I've never handled one, the Benchmade 300 Axis Flipper is probably also worth a look if your shop has it. I just received my first Benchmade (a 707) and the quality on this is through the roof. Just beautiful, inside and out.

Had an 801, and two different Southards. Vastly prefer the 801
