FWIW

"Kroil" with steel wool 0000 is what I use. I also like to mix it 50/50 with a bit of shooters choice bore cleaner for cleaning and conditioning metal.

WD-40 + Steel wool it is then... Seems simple enough for my application. Thanks guys.
