Recommend a hard use D2 fixed blade for me...

I'm looking for a new hard use fixed blade. Right now my primary hard use fixed blades are a RAT 3 and a Camillus Becker BK-7 so I'm looking for something in between those sizes, around 5-5.5" would be perfect.

I really like the performance of my D2 folders for hard use and I really want something in that steel for this knife. I'd really prefer an un-coated blade.

I'm not interested in anything with a bare steel or cord wrapped handle. It must have either a rubber handle or G10, micarta, etc. scales.

Bonus points for a factory kydex or plastic sheath.

ETA: no tantos, please

Suggestions?

In my humble opinion, if you want a top notch D2 blade then it's a Dozier knife you want. It's true it's a long wait (18-23 months) except for Raptor series folders. It is entirely worth the wait and the price. Bob Dozier in my opinion the absolute best at getting the most out of D2 steel.

Kizylar Supreme has some cool looking knives in D2 Ive been eyeballing. So if you get one let my know what you think lol

I'd also suggest a Dozier if you want D2 and a good solid handle. Check A G Russell's web site. He has quite a few Dozier blades available most of the time. Another maker to try who uses D2 is Keith Murr. He sells through A G Russell and also on his own web site. He worked for Dozier for a time, IIRC, so he knows how to do D2.

I'm sure the Doziers are nice but I'm looking more for a production knife I can buy now.

How about the Benchmade Adamas?

I love my 275 which is what made me want to try a fixed blade in D2. I just don't care for the 375 though. The blade is only a 1/4" longer than the folder, I don't like the serrated spine and I want a real handle.

Benchmade's Bone Collector series was made with D2. Knife Art also has some D2 knife offerings.

I was also going to mention Knifeart.

They have a model called the "Everyman" with a 4-3/4" satin finished D2 blade, 9-3/4" OAL, 5mm thick, full tang, black or green micarta handle, and what is described as a heavy duty kydex sheath.

Yes. Exactly what I was going to recommend. The Kizlyar Supreme Savage is excellent. Here are some pics of mine:

I like the HEST but its smaller than the RAT-3. I'm looking for something around 5" blade.

I thought DPx was making a 5" blade now. Maybe HEFT series? Not sure...

If not, another good one would be Arno Bernard for an excellent knife.

The HEFT 4 is Niolox, HEFT 6 is Sleipner. I'm not aware of a 5" blade; but I haven't been paying attention. Are you, by any chance, thinking of Lionsteel's new M5 (also Sleipner)?
