Recommend a hard use D2 fixed blade for me...

If you can find one on the exchange with a sheath a Swamprat Vex would fit your criteria. Recurve or otherwize..

Any thought about the Bradford Guardian 5 in M390?

I don't have to much experience with D2 fixed blades

In my humble opinion, if you want a top notch D2 blade then it's a Dozier knife you want. It's true it's a long wait (18-23 months) except for Raptor series folders. It is entirely worth the wait and the price. Bob Dozier in my opinion the absolute best at getting the most out of D2 steel.

I guess it depends on how hard a use. I think Doziers Wilderness knife is probably the toughest one they make and I believe it has a 5" blade on fairly thick D2 bar steel. You can often get many of the Doziers at AG Russell. Typically these are the basic knife.

I have a Guardian3 in M390, it's a killer steel and a great design, if I didn't already have other knives filling the voids I'd be seriously considering a guardian 5 or 6.

I've been wanting one of the Guardian series but can't decide which one lol

I might get a lot of people mad with this comment but I reccomend checking out aliexpress. They have a lot of interesting fixed blades. and from what I've seen. People have been fairly satisfied with their "D2".

Their "D2"? So you mean it's questionable. I wouldn't trust anything at all on that website. It may be cheap, but it's exactly that. Cheap, but questionable.

About 10 years ago I gave my younger brother a pro guides knife from Mr. Dozier. Over the years he has had to sharpen it very little and he brings that knife to deer camp with him every year and skins all the deer in his camp(about 18-20 deer per season) for his whole camp. He tells me the knife takes a scary sharp edge and keeps it. He says it's almost like the blade is alive the way it cuts thru the hide. They don't call Mr. Dozier "Dr. D2" for nothing!

I mean they say it is D2. The general rule on that site is you get what you pay for. so even if something looks the same as something else if it's priced higher. It's probably better. So a knife around $60 on there that is marked D2 will probably have a blade that acts like D2.

Probably have a blade that ACTS like D2?
The general rule with anything is usually "you get what you pay for". There are some exceptions. Some great values, and some things that are not worth their price at all.
Sorry, but I wouldn't trust anything at all on that website. It is a minefield of fakes, knockoffs, pot metal BS. Can't trust anything on there at all. Whether it's 60 bucks, 30 bucks, or 1000.

A cheaper option is the Maxpedition fixed blade knife series. They are all D2 and strongly resemble another knife makers knives. But they seem reasonable for the price.

I completely forgot about those, but I wanted to try one myself a while back. Good recommendation.
